2:17 pm. Yang Haonan CHN SR: Iron cross, maltese, I missed the next element, saltos to handstand arched over and took some adjusting, strong planche, back giant to handstand lost shape for a sec, stuck the dismount, IIRC it was a full-twisting double layout! 14.100

2:15 pm. Oka Shinnosuke JPN PH: Scissors to handstand, maybe slightly short, down to scissors into circles, good transitions between handles, some form going up into the Busnari, down into flairs, not moving super aggressively in them but extension looks good, gets the dismount! 13.866

Illia Kovtun UKR SR: 12.866

2:11 pm. Hashimoto Daiki JPN PH: The stream is SO far behind, every routine we’ve seen has had the score in before we’ve gotten to it on the stream. I hate you Peacock! Starts with great flair work right away, to scissors to handstand down to scissors into circles on both pommels, then moves to one, good work overall so far, travels well in Russians, minor hip form as hem moves to circles, minor adjustment in the pirouette into the dismount, but overall superb!14.500

Elijah Faverus NED HB: 11.266

Danila Leykin USA FX: 13.800

Anthony Mansard FRA HB: 13.800

Camilo Vera COL VT: 14.000

2:07 pm. Angel Barajas COL SR: Maltese down to iron cross, pull up to pike sit, rolls through to piked saltos to handstand, nothing big so far in his form! Back giant to handstand with an adjustment, double-twisting double layout, some form and a hop back. 13.100

1:57 pm. Illia Kovtun CRO PH: Scissors to handstand to scissors, circles on the single pommel with pretty closed hips, Russians on the single pommel, slow but smooth up into the Busnari, Russians between the handles, travles super lowly in Russians and has big leg separation, also big leg form breaks in the circles into the dismount, can’t get it to handstand, falls. Has to repeat the dismount. 12.466

1:55 pm. Hashimoto Daiki JPN FX: Front full to piked double front, hop forward. Full-twisting double layout, chest down, hop back. 2.5 to front layout stuck. Short on the double double, hop forward. Double pike clean with a big hop back. 13.666

1:47 pm. Jake Jarman GBR FX: Double-twisting double layout, almsot sticks on his heels. 2.5 to double front with a hop forward. 3.5 with a hop to the side which takes him OOB. Triple double a bit short with a lunge forward. Triple full is fine. Hop back on the double double. Lots of landing issues in this one I fear. 13.933

1:45 pm. Yang Haonan CHN PH: Scissors to handstand to scissors, circles, Russians on the single pommel, quick circles at the end of the horse, travels in Russians, working super fast, hips close slightly for a sec while traveling in circles but he fixes it, quick up into this dismount, this routine was SO FREAKING FAST. 13.900

Nurtan Idrissov KAZ VT: 13.866

1:42 pm. We have an ad now but looks like things are about to start based on the live scores. Will probably be a bit behind on routines once the stream starts showing then but what I noticed with the team final Peacock streams is that they were kinda lazy the first rotation, but then got their shit together in the subsequent so I will not stress about it.

Anyway, I’ll add scores for routines we don’t see.

1:41 pm. Lots of USA MAG fluff right now even though neither really has a strong shot at the podium but it is what it is, that’s what I get for living in the USA.

1:37 pm. Okay the boys are here. Touch warmups!

I forgot they switched from the six-person rotation groups to four. That’s fun!

1:32 pm. I believe athletes are being introduced? Should get to touch warmups shortly! Oh yes, introductions now, there they are.

Just did a quick check to see if any reserves are in, and NO! It’s the complete field from quals.

1:28 pm. I didn’t have time to write a recap of all-around qualifications or a preview of what to expect today, but here are a few thoughts before we get started today!

The Japanese guys are going to be almost impossible to beat, I think, and I expect them to get the gold and silver medals unless something goes wildly wrong for them. Like, if everyone in the top groups hit every routine, it’ll be some combination of Oka Shinnosuke and Hashimoto Daiki in the lead. Hashimoto was about half a point back from Oka in quals, but had a weaker competition, so he’s probably once again the frontrunner?

Then there are like 10 guys who I’m like “yeah they could win bronze” about lol. I feel like even though Illia Kovtun came in ranked seventh, he has more room for improvement than some of the guys ahead of him, so hoping he can improve his standing and challenge for a medal! Daniel Marinov, who was 12th in quals, is also capable of way more than we saw this weekend.

Most of the other guys have very little room for improvement, but it’ll be exciting to see if Arseniy Dukhno can continue slaying, oh, and Angel Barajas wasn’t at his peak in quals, so maybe a few extra tenths here and there from him can help him be a contender as well! I’d also consider Jake Jarman and Yang Haonan in contention, and then maaaaybe Fred Richard as well.

Anyway, I’m watching the stream on Peacock and following results on Longines!
