ROTATION 2
2:21 pm. Kishi Rina JPN FX: 13.166
Lisa Vaelen BEL VT: 14.033
2:19 pm. Kaylia Némour ALG UB: Inbar full was rough, doesn’t connect, but does the inbar layout Tkachev in mixed grip to Ezhova to Maloney to staler full to Downie to Pak to Chow half, full-twisting double layout, step back. Got scary at the beginning for a sec but good recovery.
Alice Kinsella GBR VT: 13.833
2:17 pm. Claire Pease USA BB: Triple wolf turn goes well, switch leap to split jump to Onodi, solid. Bhs loso loso with a big wobble then fall. Front aerial to straddle jump to bhs, little check. Side aerial. Switch half. Hit the 2.5 dismount with some form throughout. 12.533
Greta Mayer HUN VT: 13.400
2:15 pm. Skye Blakely USA UB: Stalder full to Church, Downie to Pak, safely through both! Toe full to van Leeuwen, minor separation, toe half to front giant to double front half, stuck! Oh, this routine has gotten EASY for her. 14.400
Ellie Black CAN FX: 12.900
Abigail Martin GBR VT: 13.800
2:13 pm. Naomi Visser NED BB: Nice bhs mount, front aerial, a little wonky in the side aerial to bhs but she corrects and stays on, switch to side somi, big wobble on the double spin, dismounted with a 2.5 with a hop. 12.533
Sugihara Aiko JPN VT: 14.266
2:12 pm. Should be starting up again in a minute or two! Jk looks like we’re starting NOW.

ROTATION 1

Lia Redick CAN UB: 12.033
2:04 pm. Sofia Tonelli ITA BB: 13.300
Lisa Vaelen BEL FX: 13.100
2:01 pm. Alba Petisco ESP UB: Straddle Jaeger, Church to Pak, short handstand before the Maloney to bail to toe-on to toe shoot, nice! Blind full, minor ankle separation, to a stuck full-out. 13.766
2:00 pm. Elena Colas FRA VT: Yurchenko full, a bit piked down, small hop back. 13.200
Flavia Saraiva BRA UB: 13.300
Alice Kinsella GBR FX: 13.300
1:58 pm. Kaylia Némour ALG VT: I don’t even want to watch but here we go. Idk what even happened? Just like…simply did a Yurchenko layout. Or I guess pike, it was kinda piked. It was like she just wasn’t ready and did a timer? Lord. Like her block looked fine? Okay, just did the rewatch and yeah, on the entry she kinda misses the springboard and does the roundoff onto the safety collar.
1:57 pm. Ke Qinqin CHN VT: Looks like a successful Yurchenko double full! Got the replay, it had a hop back. 14.033
Greta Mayer HUN FX: 12.166
1:55 pm. Breanna Scott AUS BB: Off on the layout series. Hit the side aerial, front aerial, double wolf turn, punch front, step back on the double pike. 12.900
1:53 pm. Claire Pease USA UB: Endo half to inbar full to inbar to Komova II to Tkachev, I think that random inbar was supposed to be the Komova II but she wasn’t feeling it and did an inbar as a cover and it worked! Pak, lovely handstand before the Chow half, toe half to double front half, deep but stuck. 13.833
Kishi Rina JPN BB: 12.500
Abigail Martin GBR FX: 13.133
1:52 pm. Zhang Qingying CHN VT: Assume a Tsuk full but we ofc did not see it. Ah yes, there it is in the replay. Lunge back. 13.066
1:51 pm. Kaylia Némour’s vault score just came in as a 12.366 with a 3.6 D so I assume she balked the Yurchenko double full soooooo goodbye everyone! This final is over. I’m sure we’ll get a replay. We’re of course watching an ad right now on Peacock.
Naomi Visser NED UB: 14.033
1:47 pm. Sugihara Aiko JPN FX: Double L turn. Double layout, small hop back. I think a 1.5 through to double tuck after that, I missed the early part of the first skill, but looked good, small hop back. Leap pass looked good I think? Memmel turn. 2.5 to front layout, lands with toes OOB. Sticks the double pike at the end! Queen. 13.400
Skye Blakely USA VT: Yurchenko double full, two little hops back. 14.200
Ellie Black CAN BB: 12.366
1:46 pm. Alyona Glotova RUS UB: Toe half to piked Jaeger, messy toe full to Downie to Pak, Maloney to Gienger, mostly nice, minor leg separation, full-out with a step back. 14.333
1:44 pm. Lyudmila Roshchina RUS VT: Hit the Yurchenko double full, hop back. 14.033
1:43 pm. Maïana Prat FRA BB: Hit the mount and then a long prep for her bhs loso loso, hits it with a check. Switch leap to switch alf to bhs, little form things here and there. The switch was really nice though! Side aerial to split jump, double wolf turn, side somi, and strong landing on the double pike dismount! 12.900 – D looks lower than usual? Just a 4.9!
Lorrane Oliveira BRA FX: 13.100
1:41 pm. Touch still happening! Should be a couple of minutes more.
1:38 pm. Athletes are out! I’m watching on Peacock btw, and we have an ad right now. Following live scores on Longines.
1:34 pm. With intros taking a while and the touch warmup still to come, we probably won’t get started until around 1:40 pm? Check back in a bit1
1:32 pm. Athletes are being introduced now!
1:27 pm. Hi! So as with MAG, I didn’t have time to do an individual preview, but here are some thoughts that may be helpful if you missed prelims!
Though Claire Pease finished seventh in quals – shocking tbh! – and is rotating with the group that starts on bars, I think she proved in the team competition that she is one of the best all-arounders in the world and a top contender for gold, so if she can repeat that kind of performance today, it’ll undoubtedly be between her and Kaylia Némour – who led in qualifications with a 55.999 – in the top spot.
Ke Qinqin, Elena Colas, and Skye Blakely will also be strong podium contenders, and could go for gold if the stronger two have too many mistakes. I was impressed with Lyudmila Roshchina in prelims and think she could be in the mix, and though Sugihara Aiko was down in 21st in qualifications, I think out of all of the lower-ranked competitors from that session, she has the most potential for a massive upset.

Kaylia Némour landed with her feet on the block in her round off (instead of on the springboard). Amazingly quick thinking of her to make it a layout! Poor her.

Looks like Nemour’s feet missed the springboard and so she had to do a simple layout.
