New elements. New elements are here for WAG (ahem, the Biles), but there are none for the men, who clearly just weren’t in the innovative mood this year. #meh

Injuries, retirements. Caterina Cereghetti hurt her elbow, Andrey Medvedev of Israel tore a ligament, and Greek goddess Vasiliki Millousi announced her retirement.

Wut else happened

The Schwikerts filed suit. Tasha and Jordan Schwikert filed lawsuits against Larry Nassar, USA Gymnastics, and the U.S. Olympic Committee on Monday. They allege that the orgs “knew or should have known” about Nassar’s abuse.

Penny pleaded not guilty. Former USAG president and CEO Steve Penny pleaded not guilty to tampering with evidence in the Larry Nassar case on Monday.

Fraud details released. Interim Michigan State University president John Engler said on Friday that nearly half of the over $1 million in healing funds meant for survivors actually went to fraudsters.

New SafeSport director. Shelba Waldron was hired as your new SafeSport director on Wednesday.

• USAG’s tumbling national team coach Sergio Galvez resigned after allegations of misconduct.
• An ex-gymnast testified about former Canadian national team coach Dave Brubaker’s behavior at his Tuesday trial. He’s pleaded not guilty to sexual assault.

• Michigan assistant coach Scott Vetere resigned after being charged for allegedly engaging in sexual activity in public with a gymnast.
