Eleftherios Petrounias GRE SR: Oopening sequence down to the hang to cross was so strong, up to maltese, back giant to handstand was super controlled, literally not even the slightest movement, everything else hit well, unfortunately the double-twisting double layout dismount is a BIT of a mess in the air and ends ups hort, I feel like this routine is too good to then have a dismount like that? Bestie just do it tucked and stick it. 14.366 (5.6, 8.766)

Into third! And probably would’ve been an easy gold without that dismount.

2:20 pm. Harry Hepworth GBR SR: Iron cross, angle on the inverted cross is a little awkward, through to planche and iron cross. Saltos to handstand, this was very nice, swing through to maltese, ugh, fell out of the handstand from the back giant and then adjusted a lot. Full-in double tuck low with a hop. Ugh, bummer. 12.866 (4.8, 8.066)

2:17 pm. Courtney Tulloch GBR SR: Opening sequence was good, super solid in the back giant to handstand, swing through to planche, roll through to maltese, good! Out to iron cross. Arch over in the last handstand but pulls it back quickly, triple back tuck with some leg separation and a step back. 14.366 (5.7, 8.666)

Moves into third!

2:15 pm. Artur Sahakyan GER SR: I couldn’t type for this and came in a second late but it looked like a strong set from what I saw! 13.900 (5.3, 8.600)

2:12 pm. Touch for the second half now!

2:09 pm. Vahagn Davtyan ARM SR: I wasn’t typing at the beginning but the first sequence was good, a little shaky in the back giant to handstand, swings through to a nice maltese, out to iron cross with open palms, lovely. Planche, next handstand had some hip form, a little pike on the full-twisting double layout, step back with a wobble. 14.000 (5.3, 8.700)

2:04 pm. Ilya Zaika RUS SR: Slight arch in the inverted cross, lowers to inverted hang, lowers to hang, presses up to maltese, really nice series. Front giant to inverted cross, into saltos to handstand, minor adjustments and swing there. Roll into maltese, then swing up to planche, back giant to handstand was a bit sketchy, and the full-twisting double layout comes off too early I think, has to significantly pike it down with a low chest and hop back on the landing. 14.400 (5.7, 8.800)

2:00 pm. Nikita Simonov AZE SR: Inverted cross, rolls through to maltese. Good. Back giant back to inverted cross, then saltos to a tight handstand. Maltese to iron cross. Back giant to handstand, tiniest bobble, mostly clean full-twisting double layout, minor pike down, THAT was stuck. 14.000 (5.3, 8.600, +0.1 B)

He’s submitting an inquiry…update is that the score is unchanged.

1:57 pm. Artur Avetisyan ARM SR: Lovely strong planche, down to maltese, down to iron cross, control! Clean front giant to handstand, swings through to maltese. Back up to a planche, then a solid back giant to handstand, double double looked stuck! Maybe lifts one heel. Fab routine. 14.400 (5.4, 9.000)

No stick bonus, they took that heel lift seriously.

1:55 pm. And now it’s time for the touch warmup.

1:52 pm. Athletes are being introduced now for rings!

1:47 pm. Medal ceremony is underway now! I feel like after the delay they’ll move pretty quickly into rings after this.

POMMEL HORSE FINAL

1:37 pm. David Ivanov BUL PH: Scissors to handstand had a weird hip moment that caused him to have a little break in the rhythm, also a little awkward in the Busnari, but moves well into really aggressive flairs, good, and hits the dismount, he looks sooooo mad at himself. I don’t think it was THAT bad but he knows he’s not gonna medal. 14.700 (6.0, 8.700)

Oh he is CRASHING OUT, I feel so bad, he was so close.

1:35 pm. Dmitrijs Mickevics LAT PH: Beginning goes well, shows some nice extension on the single pommel, minor form breaks on Russians between the pommels, his hips are SO open while traveling, clean into the dismount! Another fantastic set. 14.266 (5.1, 9.166)

1:32 pm. Ignacio Yockers ESP PH: A little muscled into and throughout the Busnari but gets out of that jam pretty well into flairs, also had some nice Russians on the single pommel, nice extension in circles at the end of the horse and while traveling in Russians, minor form in some circles near the end, a slight rushed moment in the dismount but overall a really nice set. 14.433 (5.7, 8.733)

Into fourth!

1:29 pm. Gabriele Targhetta ITA PH: Lovely height on the scissors, moves into the next elements well, minor foot flex on some of the single pommel work, being really picky because he’s otherwise pretty, goes up cleanly into the handstand and nails the dismount! 15.133 (5.9, 9.233)

Moves into first place! What a flex after a 20 minute wait!

1:26 pm. TOUCH WARMUP FINALLY!

1:24 pm. Athletes have apparently gone back to the training gym. The technical difficulties seem to be a weather issue.

1:21 pm. Still delayed. Luigi is running around the floor keeping everyone entertained.

1:16 pm. EUROVISION IS BACK! And it looks like the technical difficulties caused the competition to pause entirely so I don’t think we actually missed routines.

1:14 pm. WELL we’re screwed. Technical difficulties have us out here missing Gabriele Targhetta so what’s the point of existing? I’ll monitor Twitter and try to add notes if anyone from the arena shares anything.

1:06 pm. Just completely lost the feed but hopefully it’s back before the current touch ends!

SmartScoring also down so I can only assume Arseniy Dukhno burned the arena down after that routine.

1:03 pm. Arseniy Dukhno RUS PH: Scissors to circles, hits his legs on the horse as he moves into the circles on the pommels and loses his leg form, tries to recover but his rhythm is gone and he comes off. The rest goes pretty well until the travels, he kept losing and fixing his hip form until he couldn’t anymore and comes off again. Hit the dismount. 10.966 (5.0, 5.966)

12:59 pm. Rhys McClenaghan IRL PH: Scissors, tiny bump of his legs before moving into Russians, then clean into circles on the pommels, Russians on the single pommel, difficult version, back to circles on single and both, Russians between the pommels, nothing noticeably wrong until he has some leg form breaks as he starts traveling, recovers well though! 14.166 (5.7, 8.466)

12:55 pm. Hamlet Manukyan ARM PH: Scissors to circles, Russians on the single pommel, good back and forth between the pommels, Sohn elements are clean, Russians between the pommels, FAB, travels with almost no hip breaks, and also perfection into the dismount. BACK TO BACK, I cannot with these boys. 15.000 (5.7, 9.300)

WOW. Coaches are going INSANE.

Mamikon Khachatryan ARM PH: Scissors to circles, moves quickly to the single pommel, lil Russians moment, Sohn, nice extension as he goes up into the Busnari, not a single flicker of hesitation down into flairs, another Sohn element, travels with ease, breathtaking into the dismount, HELLOOOOOO. 14.900 (5.8, 9.100) – SO DESERVED

FLOOR EXERCISE FINAL

12:26 pm. Yahor Sharamkou BLR FX: Front double full to double front, leg form in the air and a deep landing, stumble. Sticks the double-twisting double layout! Whip to 2.5 down the side, mostly clean. Full-twisting double layout with some form/leg separation in the air. Low set in the double double at the end, lands with his chest pretty far down. 14.066 (5.8, 8.266)

12:23 pm. Harry Hepworth GBR FX: Really stretched and flared out in his double-twisting double layout but he’s a bit low in his set and landing could be better, hop back. I think a front double full to double front for the next pass with a big step forward. Great 3.5 down the side! Triple double, small hop. Stumble on the triple full down the side. Great open out on the double double at the end! Fab work. 14.300 (6.1, 8.200, -0.1 ND, +0.1 B)

12:20 pm. Illia Kovtun CRO FX: Front double full to double front, a little seated in the landing but hops it forward. Randi with crossed ankles and a hop back. Air flairs, nice. 2.5 to front layout down the side. 3.5 with some crossed legs and a hop. Beautiful arabian double front half, stuck! Minor form in that one. 14.100 (5.5, 8.500, +0.1 B)

12:16 pm. Luca Murabito SUI FX: His quals routine was soooooo nice! Clean full-twisting double layout to start, hop back. Clean piked double front, stuck that. Randi down the side was slightly short, hop. Y scale looked nice from the angle we had. Whip to 2.5 to front layout, lovely, small hop with his toes going on the line. Double double a bit short with a hop. 13.766 (5.5, 8.266)

12:11 pm. Mukhammadzhon Yakubov RUS FX: Crashed the double-twisting double layout, not a prayer of getting it to his feet with how low it was. Front double full to double front, some form and a hop. Double pike down the side, a little short with a small hop. Good on the 2.5 to front layout. Clean arabian double front half. 13.033 (5.5, 7.533)

12:08 pm. Arseniy Dukhno RUS FX: Mostly clean double-twisting double layout, minor soft form but great landing. Front double full to double front was nice, tiny hop forward. Double double down the side, tiny bounce. I love that this is nearly the same routine as Dolgopyat’s so far. I mentally checked out for a second but think the next pass was front full to randi? Looked good and well. Wild landing on the full-twisting double layout unfortunately! 14.333 (5.9, 8.433)

12:03 pm. Artem Dolgopyat ISR FX: Nice stretch in the double-twisting double layout, step back OOB. Front full to piked double front, hop to the side. Double double down the side, almost stuck, such a baller pass. Beautiful 2.5 to double front. Beautiful stuck arabian double front half-out. Well, this was a stunning routine I fear. 14.466 (5.8, 8.666, -0.1 ND, +0.1 B)

11:58 am. Eamon Montgomery IRL FX: Double-twisting double layout with hip and knee form in the air, OOB, front full to double front was strong. Front double full down the side is good! 2.5 to front layout with a hop forward. Double double, the slightest bit low with a little hop but this was very nice overall! 13.533 (5.4, 8.433, -0.3 ND)
