2015 NCAA Gymnastics Week 1 Preview & Schedule

Welcome to the first weekend of NCAA gymnastics in 2015!

There’s only a mini-schedule this week, as the majority of teams will wait until next weekend to debut for the year. If you’re playing Fantasy Gym, this weekend doesn’t count, but it’s a great way to familiarize yourself with how collegiate gymnastics works.

On Saturday, Central Michigan – ranked 23rd in the coaches’ preseason poll – will host the division III team from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire. It should be an easy meet for the Chippewas, so you can sit back and enjoy what should be a fun meet in a relaxed atmosphere.

UC Davis is hosting the NorCal Classic on Sunday, which is a traditionally fun meet featuring all of northern California’s teams, including top ten-ranked Stanford, who will give us the anticipated NCAA debut of 2012 Olympic alternate Elizabeth Price. Price is the one freshman for the Card this year, and she has the potential to be a game-changer for a team that’s been hit or miss over the past few seasons. You should also get excited for Cal, ranked 14th in the preseason poll, which is quite a jump thanks to the dedication of head coach Justin Howell and associate Liz Crandall, who have put their heart and soul into revitalizing this team that was on the chopping block just a few years ago. We’re super pumped to see them shine! San Jose State and Sacramento State will also compete.
