While the Division 3 teams were busy at regionals this weekend, the Division 2 teams are still steeped in the regular season with a few more weeks to go.

Bridgeport 194.225, Penn 191.900, Temple 190.500

Bridgeport earned a huge victory (by nearly a three point margin) over D1 Penn and Temple. Aijea Hargrave won vault with a 9.825. Brianna Comport won beam with a 9.8, and also tied with teammate Randi Cutolo for the floor title with scores of 9.825. Christine Liautaud led the Purple Knights on bars with a 9.8. Brielle Wilchuck contributed a 9.65 on vault and a 9.775 on floor, and Kelsey Campbell took second in the all-around with a 38.125 after strong performances on vault (9.65), bars (9.725), and floor (9.675).

Cal 196.650, Southern Utah 195.050, Michigan State 194.875, Lindenwood 193.550

Despite some beam struggles, Lindenwood still pulled a decent score in the face of serious D1 competition, and actually outscored Southern Utah on floor where they counted all scores of 9.7 or better. Rachel Zabawa had a stellar competition, and took third on vault with a 9.85, tied with teammate Andy Alexander on floor for fifth place with a 9.85, and tied with teammate Lauren Cartmell as they led the Lions on beam with scores of 9.6. Courtney Heise posted Lindenwood’s best bar score (9.825).

Oregon State 196.800, Seattle Pacific 193.300, Ball State 192.425

In the first of two meets this weekend, Seattle Pacific won over D1 Ball State by nearly a full point, and came within three tenths of tying Oregon State and Ball State on vault. Maria Hundley WON vault with a 9.85, led the team on beam with a 9.825, and took third in the all-around with a 38.45. Arianna Harger took second in the all-around with a 38.85, after strong performances on vault (9.8), beam (9.7), and floor (team high 9.775). Breanna Beltran and Tracie Villanueva led the Falcons on bars with a pair of 9.725s.

George Washington 195.725, Maryland 194.700, Texas Women’s 193.575, Pittsburgh 193.475, Yale 192.275

Texas Women’s beat two D1  programs and came within a tenth of tying EAGL powerhouse George Washington on vault at this five-team meet. Megan Gentry, Schyler Jones, and Katie Simpson all rocked vault and scored 9.8s. Simpson, along with teammate Alyssa Kelly, also led the Pioneers on bars with scores of 9.775. Jones led TWU’s beam team with a 9.775, followed up by a 9.725 from Taylor Vincent. Erin Alderman posted a team high 9.825 on floor, followed by a 9.775 from Kelly. Simpson placed fourth in the all-around with a 38.9, and Jones placed sixth with a 38.625.

Southeast Missouri 192.475, Centenary 187.625

Though Centenary is technically a division 3 team, they are not yet members of the D3 governing body, the NCGA, partly due in fact to their location (they don’t fit either in the Midwest, nor the Northeast). They did not participate in any D3 Regional, so we are going to continue to cover them with the D2 teams. Ashley White led Centenary on vault (9.575), bars (9.75), and floor (9.675), as she placed third in the all-around with a 38.525. Megan Desjardin posted Centenary’s highest beam score (9.575), and she was closely followed by Navia Jordan (9.55), and White (9.525). Noel Stubbs contributed a 9.6 on bars, and Desjardins and Jordan both had strong showings on floor with scores of 9.55.

Rutgers 195.05, Towson 192.775, Southern Connecticut 190.725, West Chester 188.475

Southern Connecticut killed it at this meet, outscoring Towson on beam (where they counted three scores of 9.7 or better), and posting a season high score, upsetting West Chester by over two points. Jennifer Rochefort posted a team high 9.65 on bars, Kathleen Aberger led the Owls on beam with a 9.75, and Nicole Pruchnik continues to be rock solid on floor, where she scored a 9.775. Alexandra Avendano had a strong three-event performance, leading the team on vault (9.625), and scoring a 9.675 on beam and 9.7 on floor. West Chester, who has been steadily killing it all season, had an uncharacteristically low-scoring meet. Samantha Engle led the team on vault with a 9.6 and Lindsay Knapp led the team on bars with a 9.45. Emily Loughery and Selena Swanger both scored team high 9.55s on beam, while Swanger and Lindsey Mathis both scored 9.625s on floor. Swanger took third in the all-around with a 37.9.

Washington 196.6, Seattle Pacific 193.4

Seattle Pacific showed no signs of fatigue in their second meet of the weekend as they increased their score by a tenth. Maria Hundley especially improved her performance, replicating her 9.85 on vault for second place, taking second on bars with a 9.85, fifth on beam with a 9.825, and fourth on floor with a 9.825, for a second place all-around finish with a school record 39.35. Kristi Hayashida tied for first place on beam with a HUGE 9.9, and the Falcon floor team scored a season high score as they counted all scores of 9.7 or better.
