1:16 pm. For the junior podium they gave Giorgia Villa bronze even though there were two silvers ahead of her! Love it! Happy for her, she was beautiful.

1:11 pm. Junior bars podium will be Gabby Perea with gold, and then a tie for silver between Jordan Chiles and Emma Malabuyo!

Nails piked double arabian, sticks before going up into the stag to be like yeah, I got that. Double layout is big and stuck. OWN IT ALY. Double pike, nearly stuck, tiniest bounce. BLESS. 15.05

1:08 pm. Perea, USA, UB- Toe on to Chow half, inbar half to straddle Jaeger, nice straddle position. Toe full to pak, clean van Leeuwen, maybe a tiny bit of ankle sep, and a clean double layout with a teeny tiny step. 14.65

1:05 pm. Douglas, USA, FX- Steady L turns to start. Double arabian to stag goes forward quite a bit but she keeps it in because of #MAGIC. Tucked full-in tiny bounce. Good Memmel. Feed froze but thankfully can see her in background of bars. Double pike is good. Solid double tuck to finish. 14.5

1:03 pm. Villa, Italy, UB- Big Tkachev to pak, nice! Maloney to bail to Ray, blind change to front giant to front giant full to front giant half, full-in with a hop. 14.0

1:01 pm. Smith, USA, FX- Back to back Texas Dreams with Malabuyo on bars and Smith now on floor! Little opening choreo gets a laugh, LOVE IT. Nails double layout, stuck cold. 1.5 through to triple full, just a tiny step back. Switch ring, tour jete full. Double arabian to stag also has a great landing. Love this little choreo bit on the floor with the wolf turn and cutesy little hand movements. Big double pike to finish, small hop. I don’t think I can take Ragan and Flavia back to back, IT’S TOO CUTE. 14.65

1:00 pm. Malabuyo, USA, UB- Inbar to stalder full to Tkachev, pak, very clean. Ray to high, stalder to stalder half to front giant half, full-in with a tiny little movement. 14.35

12:58 pm. Saraiva, Brazil, FX- 1.5 to 2.5, step forward. Love this routine so much. Tucked full-in is nearly stuck. Whenever I watch her on floor I almost cry thinking about how much Brazil is going to LOSE THEIR MINDS for her this summer. Double pike. Crowd is already crazy clapping. Nails double pike to finish and crowd is bananas. Big smile and wave as per usual. 14.05

12:57 pm. Chiles, USA, UB- Toe on to toe half to straddle Jaeger, big Tkachev to bail to toe shoot, toe full is very clean, into a super clean Gienger, stuck full-in. Excellent work! 14.35

12:55 pm. Mariani, Italy, FX- Tucked full-in with messy legs but a decent landing. Double tuck. “Por una Cabeza” music. GORGEOUS Memmel turn. Switch half. Double pike, little step forward. Lovely switch ring before her finish. Lovely work. 13.75

12:54 pm. Padurariu, Canada, UB- Inbar half to Jaeger is SO far away, doesn’t even brush her hands on the bar, just falls. Inbar piked Tkachev is huge and aggressive. Bail to inbar to Ray. Giant full, then a full-in with a stumble forward. 12.1

12:52 pm. Carofiglio, Italy, FX- Get ready for some big tumbling from her! Dowell to start, no handspring, punches into it, but ugh, sits it! 2.5 to front layout. A gospel-esque sounding routine. Switch ring, ring leap. Italy loves doing both on beam and floor, haha. Switch half. Punches into double front, just a hop there. 12.25

12:50 pm. D’Amato, Italy, UB- Maloney (leg sep) and then catches bail wildly with legs all over the place, can’t hold on and falls. Stalder to Ray, low Tkachev, giant full, arches handstand, blind change to front giant to double front sat. Oof. 11.0

12:48 pm. Campana, Italy, FX- Double tuck, bounce back. Double full with a hop. Switch ring, ring leap. Double L turn. Double pike with a hop. 12.95

12:47 pm. Coccioli, Italy, UB- Front giant to straddle Jaeger, bail is a little short, toe full, clear hip to toe on to toe shoot, double pike stuck. 12.55

12:46 pm. Pedro, Brazil, FX- 1.5 through to double tuck, tiny hop. Full Y turn, ring leap, switch half. Good landing on the double arabian. Switch ring. 2.5 with a step. Much better than yesterday on everything! Double pike with a little hop back. Great job! 13.1

12:45 pm. Schäfer, Germany, UB- Toe half, beautiful handstand before straddle Jaeger. She IS Pauline’s sister by the way! Clear hip to bail, toe-on to toe shoot, giant full, double tuck, stuck! Easy routine but beautiful extension and lines. 12.75

12:30 pm. I love how my biggest complaint for the U.S. senior women at worlds last year was beam, and in come Laurie and Ragan like “don’t worry.” 🙂

12:29 pm. Beam podium is Laurie Hernandez in first, Ragan Smith in second, and Aly Raisman in third! Good job also to Marine Boyer in a close fourth, not bad for her senior debut!

12:23 pm. Chiles, USA, VT- Amanar, excellent!! Very powerful and the landing is fantastic. HUGE DTY, super clean, and again a great landing. YAS JORDAN! Gold times a million. 15.575 average

12:21 pm. Smith, USA, BB- Double wolf turn, switch to straddle, lovely bhs layout. Good standing full with a tiny step. Punch front tuck to sissone. She’s SO aggressive! Really attacking everything. Front aerial to pike jump. Sheep jump. Big double pike with a slight step. Great work. 15.2

12:19 pm. Chrobok, Canada, VT- Clean Yurchenko 1.5 with a step forward to start. Nice. Second vault is an FTY, big and clean and yet short for some reason, chest is far forward and she steps forward as well. 13.875

12:17 pm. Raisman, USA, BB- Punch front pike, check, again missed connection to wolf jump, doesn’t do it. Bhs layout is solid. Switch to sissone. Side aerial, Switch half to back pike is awesome, much better there. Punch front tuck to split jump is also great. Can’t see why they wouldn’t credit either of the last two connections. Same with full L turn to full spin. Patterson dismount, tiniest little foot movement. 14.75

12:16 pm. Maggio, Italy, VT- The feed cut out for the first one but she landed front so I’m going to guess it’s a 1.5? Second vault is a suuuuper clean FTY bounced in place! 14.05 average

12:14 pm. Saraiva, Brazil, BB- Solid bhs loso loso. Roundoff layout, solid as well. Full spin, split to sissone, stumble on the switch ring, sheep jump, punch front tuck to wolf jump, front aerial to front aerial, stumbles and misses connection into the side somi. Double pike with a step back. Mostly excellent! Her smile is ADORAAAABLE. 14.4

12:13 pm. Linari, Italy, VT- Second vault is a decent FTY, little step to the side. 13.825 average I think?

12:12 pm. Linari, Italy, VT- Yurchenko 1.5, sat. Just came up a tad too short.

12:11 pm. Boyer, France, BB- Love this routine so much. Hope she can hit it fully! Roundoff layout with a check, saves it. Switch to switch half, decent amplitude. Sissone to front aerial to split jump to wolf jump, nicely connected, maybe a little slow in the middle but she keeps the illusion of movement. Side aerial, full L turn to opposite direction full spin, split leap to side somi is awesome. Double pike stuck! 14.7

12:10 pm. Basile, Italy, VT- Second vault is an FTY with a tiny bounce. Nice work! 13.95…actually I can’t tell if they’re putting down the average or the top single vault score.

12:09 pm. Basile, Italy, VT- Yurchenko 1.5, actually mostly clean and with a great landing! Tiny hop forward.

12:08 pm. Mariani, Italy, BB- I missed the beginning because the feed got way behind. How horrifying for her to go after Ferlito’s fall. Bhs loso, Y spin full with a balance check. Big switch side. Switch to side aerial. Side somi. Switch leap. Double pike with a step. 13.85

12:07 pm. Hribar, Slovenia, VT- Second vault is a Yurchenko layout, sat. Oy. 13.7 average.

12:05 pm. They’re able to lift her back and brace her head/neck. Looks like her nose is bleeding as well. Ugh.

12:04 pm. Medics are coming over now to check her before they move her. Ice on her neck. She is sobbing so hard. Poor thing.

12:01 pm. Ferlito, Italy, BB- Big applause of course. Controlled front aerial to sheep jump. Bhs bhs layout, solid. Switch to back tuck, also solid. Full turn, slight check, ring leap, side aerial. Switch ring. Split jump to wolf jump. Oh NOOOOO OH NO OH NO. Misses her feet on her double pike and still goes back and lands right on her head. She’s down and sobbing. Oh my god that was horrifying. 12.15

12:00 pm. Crnjac, Slovenia, VT- Second vault is a tsuk pike, hits it. 12.5 average.

11:59 am. Crnjac, Slovenia, VT- Handspring front tuck, doesn’t get any block at all and she sits it. The juniors are doing two vaults, so she’ll go again now.

11:57 am. Brevet, France, BB- Switch to switch half, good. Front aerial, leg up, misses connection to sissone to split leap. Lovely full Y turn. Bhs loso with a stumble back. Side aerial is nice. Piked side somi with great extension. Double pike is low but she stands it up, step back. 13.8

11:52 am. Warm-ups now! Apparently Ferlito said she’s so tired she hopes her legs last for her entire beam routine today…after competing at American Cup she went to a national team camp at Brescia last week and then straight to this, so she’s definitely needing a break. It’s why she pulled out of vault and floor.

11:51 am. Nice to see the Slovenians in the vault final! Following in the footsteps of Tjasa and Teja 🙂

11:46 am. Aww, Trinity looks so happy with her medal! Pretty big accomplishment to go from new elite last year to a gold medal-winning international gymnast this year! Same for Malabuyo.

11:39 am. Chiles, USA, FX- She has a big chance at winning it here. Big double arabian with a little hop forward to control it. Great front double full to front layout. Switch ring, tour jete full. 1.5 through to 2.5, no height coming out of the 1.5, which she ran out of slowly and she sat the 2.5. UGH noooooo. Double tuck, stuck with bent knees. Trinity will win!

11:38 am. Douglas, USA, UB- Inbar full, Piked Tkachev to pak (leg sep). Short handstand before inbar half to Endo half to Chow. Double layout stuck. Should be lower D than yesterday due to that missed 0.1 inbar full to piked Tkachev connection at the beginning. 14.9

11:36 am. Thomas, USA, FX- Big double layout to start, just a tiny hop back. 1.5 through to double tuck, stuck. Switch ring, tour jete half. Some sweet guitar happening in this music. Front layout to front double full, tiny check on the landing but it’s nearly stuck. Double spin. Triple full a bit short with a step forward. 14.15

11:35 am. Schild, USA, UB- Her hair looks GORG. Mini Aly. Inbar full (leg sep) to Komova II to pak (leg sep) to Maloney (leg sep) to bail (leg sep) to toe shoot. Inbar half (leg sep) to straddle Jaeger, super straight double layout stumbled. A VERY nervous routine. 14.0

11:32 am. Malabuyo, USA, FX- Lovely choreo work as always. Great tucked full-in, tiny hop. Double wolf turn. 1.5 through to 2.5 (slight ankle cross) to stag. Switch ring, tour jete full. Front double full a tiny bit short right into a stag jump. Switch full. Double pike a little short, step forward. 13.6

11:31 am. Andrade, Brazil, UB- Stalder full to Tkachev to pak to stalder to van Leeuwen, nice. Toe half to piked Jaeger, hands slip and she crashes to the mat. Gets back up for toe full (late) and then a full-in dismount, nearly stuck. Didn’t connect the last two like she usually does. 12.9

11:29 am. Maggio, Italy, FX- Fresh after her silver on beam! Ooh, love her opening choreo bit. Tucked full-in with a tiny bounce. Crowd is clapping along. Double tuck with a hop back gets cheers. Switch ring, switch ring half. Beautiful double pike! Full Y turn. Gorgeous double full. Music was a mix but had Gloria Estefan’s “Conga” at one point, hahaha. 13.5

11:28 am. Barbosa, Brazil, UB- Ricna to pak caught basically at her hips and she has to swing around. Maloney to bail to Ray, messy toe full to low Tkachev, blind change to front giant half, double layout, bends her knees a little in the second flip and hops forward. 13.15

11:26 am. Padurariu, Canada, FX- Ring jump full. 2.5 to front layout half, I think her foot went OOB. I think the layout half is possibly an upgrade though? I think it used to be a front tuck but who knows. 1.5 to front full to stag, gets a little crazy but she controls it well. Double pike with a step back. Yay Ana! 13.25

11:25 am. His, France, UB- Van Leeuwen, super clean. Blind change to big straddle Jaeger. Church, pak with flexed feet but clean form, Maloney to bail to toe full, a little late. Toe shoot, full-in with a slight hop. Great work. 14.25

11:23 am. Linari, Italy, FX- Popa a little short, unless she meant it as a straddle 3/4. Tucked full-in, decent landing. I missed her second pass but she hit. Front double full with a little hop. 2.5 with a slight hop forward. Energetic and fun routine. 13.25

11:21 am. Vanhille, France, UB- Chow to Ricna, muscles front giant into the straddle Jaeger, pak caught close, short handstand before Maloney to bail to Ray, giant full, beautiful stuck double layout. 14.2

11:19 am. Villa, Italy, FX- Love this kid. She beat all the seniors at the first Italian Serie A this year. Tucked full-in with her chest a little low to start. Triple full with a little bounce back. Switch leap, switch half. Tour jete half. Front double full with a little loss of control on the landing. Double pike with a stumble back OOB. Triple spin, gets it nearly around but has to hop it a little. 12.9

11:18 am. Ugrin, Italy, UB- Maloney to bail, nice handstand, to toe shoot. Inbar full to Gienger, big leg sep. Great handstand again before stalder half to inbar to inbar half to front giant half, but then UGH she stumbles back and sits her full-in. WHY. 12.95

Chrobok, Canada, FX- I hope she has a good routine here after such a rough day yesterday. 1.5 through to double tuck, great upright landing, tiny hop. 2.5 to front tuck to stag, loses control during the stag and has to take a weird step forward, foot def goes OOB. Double full with a step. Double pike with a bounce back. Not the greatest but not bad either. 12.95

11:06 am. Emma Malabuyo wins beam, her second international beam gold in as many weeks, again, NO BIGGIE. Martina Maggio gets the silver medal while Helene Schäfer gets third!

11:04 am. MyKayla Skinner wins vault, her second international individual gold medal in eight days, no biggie. Laurie Hernandez gets silver and Emily Schild gets bronze.

11:01 am. Without going back and seeing all scores I’m pretty sure Skinner wins vault and Malabuyo wins beam! Don’t quote me on it but like 98% sure.

10:58 am. Padurariu, Canada, BB- Eeeee so nervous for this!!! I love this routine so much. Switch ring, big air, but stumbles. Oof. Then off on side aerial loso loso, NOOOOOOOOOOOO. Switch to sheep jump, little check. Big switch half, beautiful extension. Full turn. Front aerial, check, missed connection to wolf to sissone. Side somi is great. Big double pike with a step back.

10:56 am. Chiles, USA, BB- Full turn, bhs loso loso, stumbles then puts her hands down. Switch to switch half. Side somi with a wobble but good control to save it. Nice amplitude on switch side, takes her all the way to the end of the beam. Front aerial to sissone to pike jump. Side aerial, nice extension. Punch front tuck. Excellent stuck double tuck!

10:55 am. Skinner, USA, VT- Amanar, muuuuch better than yesterday. Rotates it well, and just takes a step back to steady it. Looked okay in the air too, maybe just loose knees on the last twist or so. 15.2

10:53 am. Maggio, Italy, BB- Bhs loso loso, hit well but knees are super bent. Switch leap to sissone is nice. Full turn, slight adjustment, switch ring with a janky back leg and flexed foot. Side aerial. Front aerial, pause before sheep jump, missed connection. Side somi with a wobble but saves it. Big double tuck with a small hop forward. 13.6

10:52 am. Hernandez, USA, VT- DTY, big and clean, just a bounce back, a couple of feet. Great power though. 14.85

10:50 am. Malabuyo, USA, BB- I really hope this ends up being a battle between her and Padurariu. Double wolf turn is nice. Bhs loso loso is suuuper solid. Sheep jump, little stumble. Punch front with a little check. Side aerial. Front aerial to sissone to straddle jump. Switch ring I think, I missed it due to a frozen screen. Double pike with a step back. Great effort. 14.6

10:48 am. Schild, USA, VT- DTY, lovely in the air but a bit low on the landing, bent knees and a big step forward. 14.4 I think.

10:47 am. Basile, Italy, BB- Split leap. Sissone to wolf jump. Front aerial. Lots of pausing before the flight series, a bhs bhs layout which kind of turns into a loso with a step. Maybe was meant to be a loso? I don’t even know. Big switch side with flexed feet and a little stumble. Side aerial. Double pike stumbled back a few steps. 12.6

10:46 am. Carofiglio, Italy, VT- Yurchenko 1.5, legs are super sloppy in the air, big step forward. 14.1

10:43 am. Linari, Italy, BB- Lovely press handstand mount. Switch to switch half, not bad. Front aerial, good landing. Double spin with a big check but she controls it. Bhs bhs loso, slight check on the landing but she hits it well. Big switch side, tiny bobble. Wolf jump to sissone is clean. 2.5 with a tiny hop. Another very promising routine! 13.45

10:42 am. His, France, VT- Clean FTY with a little hop back. Nothing spectacular. 14.1

10:40 am. Perea, USA, BB- Full turn, great standing full. Split jump to sissone. Bhs bhs layout, leg up but holds it. Switch to switch half, underrotated, skids landing, puts hands down, then falls. Ugh! Switch ring with a yucky back leg and a stumble. Front aerial. Side somi. 2.5 with a step. Bummer about that fall! 😦 12.65

10:38 am. Schäfer, Germany, BB- Is she Pauline’s little sis? She looks similar. Front aerial, side somi, check. Nice side aerial to back handspring. Switch to switch half, slow connection but amplitude is better than most. Double spin! Sissone to split leap. Ooh, she’s going to be GOOD as she gets older. Double full with a little step. 13.5

10:39 am. Leolini, Italy, VT- Handspring layout half, slight bounce back. Solid vault. 14.2

10:36 am. No grand performance today…warm-ups happening now and then hopefully the competition right after!

10:31 am. About to begin the pre-meet business! Note on the vault final – because only two gymnasts did two vaults yesterday, they opened the final to best single vault scores, which is why the three Americans are there.
