6. Christian Baumann, Switzerland, 81.631
7. Bart Deurloo, Netherlands, 76.932

3:00 pm. Leanne Wong, United States, FX: Dos Santos, a little low, into a stag jump! 3.5!!!!! Maybe a hair underrotated if you wanna be picky but I DON’T WANNA BE PICKY because she’s too great. 2.5 to front layout. Triple full, some ankle form, lunged back, but DAMN LEANNE.

2:59 pm. Grace McCallum with a 56.465! 13.866 on floor.

2:57 pm. Yul Moldauer, United States, HB: Yamawaki, good on his one arm pirouette, jam full a little crooked, late on the jam half, Kovacs is good, hop full, Rybalko, triple double layout dismount!!!!!!!! Step back on it but DAMN what a performance.

Sam Mikulak with an 85.931 in the all-around!

2:56 pm. Grace McCallum, United States, FX: Double double, a tad bit low with a hop to the side. Front layout front double full, some leg form, but good on the landing. Oh hey Jana Bieger line judge. Triple full is a little short on rotation, also with the leg form. Double tuck with a hop back, a little deep there. Lots of little things in there but still super solid. 13.866

2:55 pm. Ellie and Mai are currently tied with a 55.732!!!!! PLEASE DON’T BREAK THE TIE, I NEED THIS.

2:52 pm. Sam Mikulak, United States, HB: Cassina, Kolman, great. Layout Tkachev, stralder Tkachev to stalder Tkachev half, great. One-arm full pirouette, arches out of jam half, good cover but still a huge deduction for the extra swing, hop full, stuck the double double layout. 14.166

2:51 pm. Mai Murakami with a 55.732 with a fall HELLO.

Ma Yue with an 84.465, so happy for him! He looked fantastic here today. I think his highest AA scores last year were around a 79.

2:49 pm. Ellie Black, Canada, FX: Popa. 2.5 through to double tuck, little hop back. Some form on the front double full but goes nicely into the front tuck. Little stumble on her first leap in her series but still can run out of it into the second without a problem. Double full stuck, just again with some leg form in the air. 13.233

2:48 pm. Ma Yue, China, HB: Short on some handstands at the beginning, big layout Tkachev, then a straddle Tkachev, muscles out of layout Tkachev half, Yamawaki to Endo half, stalder, hop full, deep landing on the double double layout, but sticks it. What a great meet for this wee baby!! Bows to the whole crowd.

2:45 pm. Mai Murakami, Japan, FX: Kinda falls out of her quad spin into a lunge. Double double, a bit low for her, little hop. Double layout, a little forward on the landing. 2.5 to front full, pretty nice, just a hop to the side. Solid landing on the double pike, looked great in the air too. 14.133

2:43 pm. The high bar fall was from James Hall. 😦 😦 12.533 on the event, 82.698 for the day, currently behind Pakhniuk in the all-around standings.

2:41 pm. Kim Bui, Germany, FX: Big double layout, little bounce. Good double tuck with a bounce back. 2.5, stuck the front tuck out of it. Great!

2:40 pm. Lu Yufei gets a 12.600 on floor, finishes with a pretty solid 51.699 all-around! Good for her.

2:39 pm. From the sounds of the crowd, someone just fell on high bar…

Petro Pakhniuk with an 82.864, by the way. Christian Baumann with an 81.631, and Bart Deurloo with a 76.932.

2:37 pm. Lu Yufei, China, FX: Hit her opening double tuck. Good switch ring. Double full with a bounce.

2:36 pm. Sanna Veerman with an 11.833 on floor for a 50.765 total.

2:35 pm. Petro Pakhniuk, Ukraine, HB: German giants, the crowd is like woaaaah, doesn’t go to handstand out of it thought. Straddle Tkachev, straddle Tkachev half, jam full, full-twisting double layout, a bit low but stuck.

2:32 pm. Sanna Veerman, Netherlands, FX: Arabian double front, little hop. Solid double tuck. 1.5 to front full, good on that landing. Ugh, short on the double full at the end, hands down. Such a bummer at the end of an otherwise good performance.

Celia Serber gets a 49.798 and Lee Yunseo got a 47.866.

2:31 pm. Christian Baumann, Switzerland, HB: Yamawaki, Endo full, layout Tkachev, stalder 1.5 into his front giant work, some leg separation throughout, double double layout with a step back.

2:27 pm. Celia Serber, France, FX: Glad we get to see her at least once. Tucked full-in, bounced OOB. Double pike, a bit buckled. Hit the last pass.

Lee Yunseo got a 47.866 on floor.

2:26 pm. I believe Bart Deurloo hit high bar but we didn’t see it. 13.900! Yay, glad he ended on a high note.

2:24 pm.Women’s Rotation 3 Standings

5. Kim Bui, Germany, 40.966
6. Lu Yufei, China, 39.099
7. Sanna Veerman, Netherlands, 38.932
8. Celia Serber, France, 37.198
9. Lee Yunseo, South Korea, 36.733

Men’s Rotation 5 Standings

1. Yul Moldauer, United States, 72.199
2. Sam Mikulak, United States, 71.765
3. Ma Yue, China, 70.565
4. James Hall, Great Britain, 70.165
5. Petro Pakhniuk, Ukraine, 69.131
6. Christian Baumann, Switzerland, 67.798
7. Bart Deurloo, Netherlands, 63.032

2:23 pm. We’re missing first-up on floor…I think it’s Lee Yunseo. Really short on her opening double pike. They cut away from her though.

2:19 pm. Celia Serber with a 12.966 on beam but we didn’t see anything from her.

2:17 pm. Mai Murakami, Japan, BB: They’re going back to show her beam, let’s relive the great punch front pike and bhs loso, switch ring, punch front after that, then goes down for her wolf turn and falls. Clean and basically stuck double pike.

12.100 for Bart Deurloo on p-bars. Idk what they were talking about earlier about two of the men scratching because no one did lol.

2:13 pm. Ellie Black, Canada, BB: Nice turn sequence, tiny check on punch front. Solid layout series. She apparently injured her knee coming into this meet so it’s heavily wrapped. Switch leap to switch half to back handspring. Great side somi. 2.5 dismount, was gonna do the triple full, but played it safe with a little hop. Good work. 13.800

2:12 pm. Mai Murakami with a 13.233 on beam. She apparently fell, according to snark queen Timmy D on a hot mic. Apparently it was on her triple wolf turn.

2:10 pm. Ma Yue, China, PB: Short on his second handstand, double salto skill was solid, straddle release was good, basket travel skill was good, into an L sit, lovely transition to a single rail, stuck piked double back. Great job. 14.333

2:08 pm. Mai Murakami, Japan, BB: She’s going during a commercial break, I’ll get what I can. I’m sure they’ll replay. Hit her mount, acro into jumps, punch front pike, good. Solid on bhs loso. Just cut away from her but so far so good and hopefully they’ll show this for real in a sec.

Apparently two of the men scratched.

2:03 pm. Leanne Wong, United States, BB: Switch leap to straddle jump, lovely. Excellent bhs loso loso, full L turn to full spin, solid on the switch ring. Front aerial to split ring jump, leg up on side somi, triple full, a tad short in rotation but still solid on the landing and looked like her knees were a bit crossed in the air. 14.066

Kim Bui with a 12.766 on beam, we didn’t see the routine.

1:57 pm. Sanna Veerman, Netherlands, BB: Punch front pike, solid landing. Full turn, tiny adjustment on bhs loso, side aerial, little check, switch leap to straight jump full, stumble but good save. Bigger stumble on side somi. Big switch half, over-rotated and she grabs the beam. 1.5, little slide on the landing. 12.166

1:53 pm. Sam Mikulak, United States, PB: Crushing his connections early in his routine, on his basket skill thingy he comes in a bit low and doesn’t grasp correctly or something, I know nothing about p-bars, but they’re apparently going to take a point off according to Timmy. Oh, in the replay, he basically almost sat it on the p-bars, so yeah. Double front half-out, a little low but stuck. 14.066

We missed Lee Yunseo on beam, 10.233.

1:51 pm. Yul Moldauer, United States, PB: Really nice handstand work at the start, just a tad short on one pirouette, one-arm pirouette is very nice though. A couple of releases in there, both good, perf handstand before his double front half-out, STUCK!!! 14.966

1:50 pm. Christian Baumann with a 14.800 on p-bars! Sad we missed this.

1:46 pm. Lu Yufei gets a 12.566 on beam.

1:44 pm. James Hall started p-bars with a 14.333! Sad to have missed this.

We’re currently missing Lu Yufei of China on beam.

1:40 pm. Grace McCallum, United States, BB: Nice candle mount, and then her triple and double wolf turns, lovely on both. Side aerial to layout stepout, solid. Punch front is superb. Switch leap to front aerial, a little off with a bobble, switch leap to full turn, love that connection. Double tuck with a step back. Great fight on a couple of the little things that got to her. 13.833

8. Lee Yunseo, South Korea, 26.500
9. Celia Serber, France, 24.232

Men’s Rotation 4 Standings

3. Ma Yue, China, 56.232
4. James Hall, Great Britain, 55.832
5. Petro Pakhniuk, Ukraine, 54.765
6. Christian Baumann, Switzerland, 52.998
7. Bart Deurloo, Netherlands, 50.932

1:33 pm. Mai Murakami, Japan, UB: Toe-on to Maloney to Gienger, nice piked Jaeger, hop change to straddle Jaeger, great handstand before blind full, a tad shy, to bail to toe shoot, she’s crushing it tbh. Stuck full-in. She’s a star.

1:29 pm. Leanne Wong, United States, UB: Inbar to Komova II to Pak to Chow half, beautiful! Al Fong is overjoyed. A little short on the handstand into her Jaeger, late toe full, double layout, stuck! Excellent aside from some of the handstands. 14.100

1:28 pm. We missed Sanna Veerman on bars. 12.666

Bart Deurloo, Netherlands, VT: Kaz full, not bad in the air, hop to the side.

1:26 pm. Sam Mikulak, United States, VT: Kaz 1.5, little deep, and small hop to the side. In warmups he stuck it cold but still pretty solid in the air. “I wanted that stick like you!” Sam to Yul. ❤

1:24 pm. Kim Bui, Germany, UB: Hop change to piked Jaeger to Pak, short handstand before Maloney to Bhardwaj, beautiful! Van Leeuwen, slight ankle sep, a little leg break in her full pirouette into her Gienger, full-in, baby step. 14.400

1:20 pm. Ma Yue in the vault warmup had a really hard fall out of his timer and looked like he hurt his head but he’s back on the runway so probably just a minor drama.

1:19 pm. Lee Yunseo, South Korea, UB: A little late on inbar full, Komova II to Pak, very nice. Van Leeuwen, inbar half to big piked Jaeger, stalder to full-in, solid. This is her event and she did it well!

1:17 pm. Yul Moldauer, United States, VT: Kaz 1.5, beautiful and stuck cold!!! Excellent.

1:15 pm. Lu Yufei, China, UB: Nice handstand before Tkachev to Gienger, excellent! Ling to Jaeger to Pak, ugh, legs come apart in the Pak, bent too, but she saved it from being a fall at least. Low on the full-in, stumble forward. Looks so bummed. Rolled her eyes like a QUEEN. 13.300

1:12 pm. Grace McCallum, United States, UB: Weiler half to Chow to Tkachev, Pak a little low, van Leeuwen, she was apparently supposed to combine the Tkachev to Pak and the Pak to the van Leeuwen but didn’t. Late on her pirouette, into the full-in dismount with a step. 14.200

1:09 pm. Celia Serber, France, UB: On in the background of the feed I’m watching, Maloney to Pak, fell on her piked Jaeger, and then the feed went dark.

1:07 pm. Petro Pakhniuk, Ukraine, VT: I missed the beginning, kaz 1.5 maybe? Super low and seated on the landing, big step to the side. Oh, there’s a replay. Yeah, kaz 1.5, look at me correctly guessing MAG skills.

1:05 pm. Ellie Black, Canada, UB: Great handstand before Maloney to Hindorff, YAS! Shang is great, hop change to piked Jaeger to Pak, leg separation on the latter. Van Leeuwen is good, blind full, tucked toe-front half with a tiny bounce. 14.266

1:00 pm. Women’s Rotation 1 Standings

1. Leanne Wong, United States, 14.666
2. Grace McCallum, United States, 14.566
3. Ellie Black, Canada, 14.433
— Mai Murakami, Japan, 14.433
5. Sanna Veerman, Netherlands, 14.100
6. Kim Bui, Germany, 13.800
7. Celia Serber, France, 13.566
8. Lu Yufei, China, 13.233
9. Lee Yunseo, South Korea, 12.900

Men’s Rotation 3 Standings

1. Sam Mikulak, United States, 43.266
2. Yul Moldauer, United States, 42.500
3. Ma Yue, China, 41.666
4. James Hall, Great Britain, 41.332
5. Petro Pakhniuk, Ukraine, 40.932
6. Christian Baumann, Switzerland, 39.032
7. Bart Deurloo, Netherlands, 37.432

12:59 pm. Sanna Veerman got a 14.100 on vault! Not sure what she did though because we only saw three vaults. *shrug*

12:57 pm. Bart Deurloo, Netherlands, SR: A little low in his legs on the maltese from this angle, straddle planche bobbles a bit, nice handstand after that, pike double front into a muscled handstand and then a double tuck into an L sit, little weak on the transition. Bent elbows on the last handstand, and then stumbles his dismount to his back.

12:55 pm. Kim Bui with a 13.8 on vault. Assuming she did an FTY but no idea because we’re just watching Sam and Yul hanging out.

12:52 pm. Sam Mikulak, United States, SR: Maltese, nice, good in his iron cross as well. Double front wobbles up into his cross, doesn’t quite get to the position, then pike double front into a handstand, better. Double double stuck. Mostly great, just really that transition that got him.

12:51 pm. We didn’t see Lu Yufei’s vault, just a 13.233 though. Then a 12.900 for Lee Yunseo’s.

12:49 pm. Yul Moldauer, United States, SR: Maltese, lovely planche. Iron cross is nice as well. Saltos into an iron cross. Muscles up into the straddle planche and then is pretty arched in a handstand, but sticks the double double dismount cold.

12:47 pm. We’re getting Sam fluff instead of anything else happening.

Looks like Ma Yue did well on rings but wasn’t brilliant, only a 14.333 when he’s capable of at least half a point higher.

12:44pm. Grace McCallum, United States, VT: Clean DTY in the first twist, legs get a bit messy in the second though, and a big hop back. 14.566

12:43 pm. Christian Baumann, Switzerland, SR: Nice work on his planche, a little shaky in his handstand after, has a bit of sway in his back and bobbles a bit, saltos up into a straddle planche, legs are way low compared to his chest. Double double with a little hop.

12:42 pm. They didn’t show Ellie Black on vault sadly but she got a 14.433, which matched Mai’s score. Also didn’t show Celia Serber but I believe she did an FTY, got a 13.566.

12:39 pm. James Hall, Great Britain, SR: Legs aren’t quite as high as they need to be in many of his strength positions. Good salto skills, and holds his iron cross well. Muscles up into a handstand, double double with a step back.

12:37 pm. They didn’t show the first two for MAG on rings I believe. Went right to a commercial after those first two vaults.

12:34 pm. Mai Murakami, Japan, VT: DTY, huuuge, but a big bounce back.

12:32 pm. Leanne Wong, United States, VT: DTY, beautiful and nearly stuck. EXCELLENT! 14.666

12:28 pm. Rotation 2 Standings

1. Sam Mikulak 29.166
2. Yul Moldauer 28.300
3. James Hall 27.666
4. Petro Pakhniuk 27.566
5. Ma Yue 27.333
6. Christian Baumann 25.399
7. Bart Deurloo 24.932

12:25 pm. Sam Mikulak, United States, PH: Nice flair work at the beginning especially on the transition down from the handstand pirouettes. Brushed against the horse on one part, but fought through it, came back very nicely, and hit!

12:22 pm. Yul Moldauer, United States, PH: Opens with beautiful flair work. Also nice spindles. The rest is beautiful, nails the transition into the dismount. Excellent routine.

12:20 pm. Christian Baumann, Switzerland, PH: I missed the very beginning of this, had a huge leg break in the middle but fought through it and stayed on. Hit the dismount. Overall had good form throughout aside from that break.

12:18 pm. Break now for the second half of the rotation to warm up!

12:15 pm. James Hall, Great Britain, PH: Another early struggle going into his first handstand, love his one-arm pirouette on the pommel, he’s working super slow and steady but has some piked hips throughout. Great on his dismount.

12:13 pm. Petro Pakhniuk, Ukraine, PH: Muscled hip his second handstand. Nice single pommel work. Some knee bends and leg separations near the end of his traveling work, simple dismount.

12:10 pm. Ma Yue, China, PH: Good first handstand, muscles up second handstand, which is way short. Nice body line throughout after that. Legs start to come apart a little at the end, but he fights through into the dismount. SCREAMED at the end HAHAHAHA. He’s so proud. Also SAME.

“Atta boy!! Well done, sir!” Sam Mikulak is a gentleman and a scholar.

14.033!!

12:08 pm. Bart Deurloo, Netherlands, PH: I’m just gonna copy Timmy D here. Beautiful Russians! But then on one of his transitions he kind of tumbles over the horse and falls. Travels after that, into the dismount.

12:05 pm. Sam leads it after the first rotation!

12:01 pm. Yul Moldauer, United States, FX: Randi to start is beautiful, excellent landing. 3.5 to barani, a little crooked but nice upgrade for him! 2.5 to front full with a hop. Arabian double front half-out, solid landing. Fantastic in his flair work. God he’s beautiful. Double full side pass, super clean. Triple full, a little short, big hop forward. Aside from the last pass, this was breathtaking.

11:58 am. Christian Baumann, Switzerland, FX: Randi to start, step back out of it. 2.5 to front layout, good. Arabian double front, tiny bounce. Clean and flared double full side pass. Simpler tumbling from him but he’s looking much better at it than most of this field has looked. Flairs and a press handstand for his nonsense work. Triple full, way short, to his hands and knees.

11:56 am. James Hall, Great Britain, FX: Piked double front and a double double with a step. Hopped on his third pass and took a huge step on his fourth. Omg, then his legs came apart in his press handstand nonsense. Came up way short on triple full, big step to the side. Le sigh.

11:54 am. Little break right now while the second half of the rotation warms up!

11:51 am. Petro Pakhniuk, Ukraine, FX: Double double, hop back. Second pass was a bit wild with a step. Third pass was solid into a barani and fourth went into a front full, I didn’t see the openings of either. I’m also live blogging Jesolo right now and Emma Malabuyo is on beam FYI!! Hop on his last pass, triple full, mostly clean in the air but a tiny bit shy in rotation.

11:47 am. Ma Yue, China, FX: Double front half-out, hop. Front full to front double full I think, hop to the side, OOB. 2.5 to Rudi. Randi. Twisting is pretty solid. Double full for his side pass is clean, and he ends with a triple full, mostly okay, chest down and his legs in the air need work.

11:44 am. Bart Deurloo, Netherlands, FX: Flew OOB on his double front in his first pass. 2.5 to front full. Arabian double front with a hop back. Aside from the first pass this was a mostly good routine.

11:41 am. Sam Mikulak, United States, FX: Front double pike, nice. Something in to a double front after that, and then hit his 2.5 to I think a front tuck full. Also hit the pass after that. Beautiful triple full to finish. Tim Daggett I think just DIED. This routine was phenomenal.

11:40 am. Here we go!!!

    • I don’t know why, but the scoring never really seems fair at American Cup. It’s like they’ve already chosen the winner before the meet and choose to score them higher.

      • But Grace didn’t win, so doesn’t that negate this? Generally I agree that scoring is crazy at this meet, but at least this year, the ranking was correct. Leanne was the clear best, Grace had a good day with no major mistakes but was behind Leanne because she was a bit weaker on all four events, Mai had a fall on beam and could’ve won without it, and Ellie was downgraded on beam and floor (and got a gift of her own on bars). If it was a fully hit day for everyone and Grace won by a tenth or something due to her vault gift, then yeah, I’d see your point…but her E scores were actually pretty low for a U.S. meet and were almost identical to her worlds scores for similar routines so it’s not like it was all that out of control. Especially compared to many American Cups in the past.

      • Most important thing is the ranking, which is pretty much right on. I don’t think anyone here is arguing about the ranking. as regard to score, can’t always compare between meets. if it’s within 0.5 i am more or less ok with it.

  1. there’s no livestream this year (I believe they said there would be, but nope), and USAG is posting the routines on their channel, if you want to see Ellie and Celia

  3. Leanne did a great job on her first outing… grace did well too…. just too bad mai had to fall because she definitely could ve put the pressure on all the way til the end. but i guess this will have to just continue the scam cup streak for the US til next year

  4. It was sad to see Grace fighting back tears in her post-meet interview, but Leanne really delivered and showed some amazing upgrades. Mai only missed the gold by 1.03 so it would have been REALLY close between her and Leanne.
