3. David Vecsernyes, Hungary, 14.066
4. Andrey Likhovitskiy, Belarus, 13.833
5. David Belyavskiy, Russia, 13.466
6. Carlo Macchini, Italy, 13.200

10:23 am. Andrey Likhovitskiy BLR HB: Big layout Tkachev, then a straddle Tkachev, hop full, Rybalko, all great. Stoop, stoop full, super late there, but into a Yamawaki, some German giants, crowd loves them, super high full-twisting double layout. Fab. 13.833.

10:20 am. Carlo Macchini ITA HB: Layout Kovacs, Kolman, both solid. Gets a bit messy in some of his pirouettes, and then he pauses on the high bar with his hips. Hop full, finishes with a full-twisting double layout, stuck. 13.200.

10:18 am. David Belyavskiy RUS HB: Hit his opening pirouette work, then a big layout Tkachev, hands nowhere near where they need to be for his straddle Tkachev half to mixed grip. Fall. Back on for his German giants, and hit the dismount. 13.466 (5.5 D, 7.966 E).

10:15 am. Robert Tvorogal LTU HB: I couldn’t type during this but he hit back-to-back-to-back Tkachev releases super well! The rest was great, double layout full-out was a little low with a hop back. 14.400 (6.1 D, 8.300 E)!!!

10:10 am. Ahmet Önder TUR HB: Yamawaki, layout Tkachev, nice. Layout Tkachev half, super nice. Straddle Tkachev, straddle Tkachev half, then some L grip work after. Finishes with a double-twisting double layout with a step. Excellent and clean throughout. 14.100 (5.7 D, 8.400 E).

10:07 am. David Vecsernyes HUN HB: One-arm pirouette, front giant work, stoop full, a little late, stoop half, also a little crooked, Straddle Tkachev, Kolman, straddle Tkachev half, Yamawaki to Endo to front giant half, stalder, and then his layout full over the bar. Some issues in there but good hit. 14.066.

10:06 am. Men’s high bar coming up shortly!

4. David Belyavskiy, Russia, 14.733
5. Robert Tvorogal, Lithuania, 14.200
6. Brinn Bevan, Great Britain, 13.700

9:57 am. Anastasiya Alistratava BLR FX: Memmel turn. Double pike, little bounce. Double L turn to full pirouette. 2.5 to front tuck, little bounce forward. Switch leap to tour jeté half. Split jump full. Double tuck, step back. Great routine. What a winner she is for Belarus. 12.900

9:54 am. Oleg Verniaiev UKR PB: Wasn’t typing through most of this but had a couple of arched handstands early on. Also fought some control issues near the end but got through it! Hop on the dismount. 15.333 to take the lead!

9:52 am. Adela Sajn SLO FX: Double pike, bounce back into the corner. Good save! Quad spin!! Falls into a lunge but great. Switch to tour jeté half. I can’t believe she only recently came back to floor and is basically stronger here than she is on beam. Front full, hop forward. Triple spin to Popa, fantastic. Her leo is actually quite tame for Slovenia. Teja wins it today. 2.5, excellent landing and looked great in the air. Beautiful routine. 12.666 (4.7 D, 7.966 E)

9:50 am. David Belyavskiy RUS PB: Was watching but not typing at the beginning, looked mostly okay, just a bit low on some of his elements and he also had some struggles with holding handstands well. He’s either not quite there or too arched. Low on his double front half-out. 14.733 to slide into third.

9:47 am. Denisa Golgota ROU FX: Double double, to her hands. 😦 I almost miss the DLO full, it was messier but more consistent for her.. Suuuuuper high arabian double front, and solid landing there as well. Tour jeté full. Stuck the tucked full-in. Great double tuck as well. Poor kid. 😦 That was great aside from the first pass. 12.300 (5.6 D, 7.000 E, -0.3 ND).

9:44 am. Brinn Bevan GBR PB: Arched in a handstand at the beginning, adjusts, and then falls over sideways in handstand onto one of the rails when trying to control another handstand. Climbs back on for a big salto element after, gets more controlled as he goes through the rest, a bit messy in his dismount, though, and lands it low. 13.700.

9:41 am. Jessica Castles SWE FX: Really creative opening choreo sequence. Careful not to put her foot out! She’s close to the corner and she spies that foot with her eyes to make sure. 1.5 through to double tuck, little bounce back but great combo. Great 2.5 to front tuck! Switch ring through to a tour jeté half. Lovely presentation so far. Stuck front full. Switch half into a straight jump full. Controlled double wolf turn. Fabulous job. 12.933 (4.9 D, 8.033 E).

9:39 am. Ferhat Arican TUR PB: Watching him go as a Turkish gymnast warms up at junior worlds. ❤ Saltos into a handstand at the start, super controlled and fluid. Holds a handstand for 45 years before transitioning to the single rail, all of his handstands are held for a century. Tiny ankle separation and a shuffle on an element after that. Rushed through a one-arm pirouette. Stuck the double front half-out. Fab. 14.833.

9:37 am. Anastasiia Bachynska UKR FX: Tucked full-in is messy in the air, hop back. Arabian double front, low but no issues that she had in the all-around! Memmel turn. Switch ring to split ring leap. Love her little msile before her third pass. Double pike, buckled knees but not bad. Switch side. Double tuck, good! Little hop back. Very good work. 13.200 (5.1 D, 8.100 E).

9:35 am. Marios Georgiou CYP PB: Beautiful opening. One-arm swing to the single rail was so smooth and he finished smack dab in handstand. Hop elements, mostly good but a bit arched at the end. Full-in double tuck dismount, solid. YAY. 14.900!

9:33 am. Aneta Holasova CZE FX: Double layout, fantastic! So happy she got that skill. Arabian double front is fabulous, barely moves her feet. Full Y turn. Switch ring to tour jeté half. Double pike, tiny hop forward. Popa. Clean double full, small hop. SHE’S A SUPERSTAR. 12.966 (4.9 D, 8.066 E). LITERALLY SOMEONE JUST GIVE HER A 13 PLEASE.

9:31 am. Robert Tvorogal LTU PB: I missed the beginning but he held a handstand super well at the start. Everything looked pretty smooth and fluid honestly. Good double front dismount. 14.200

9:27 am. Parallel bars and women’s floor exercise are about to begin!

8:52 am. Now time for 30 minutes of medals!

8:48 am. BALANCE BEAM STANDINGS

1. Nina Derwael, Belgium, 13.766
2. Angelina Melnikova, Russia, 13.600
3. Diana Varinska, Ukraine, 13.100
4. Denisa Golgota, Romania, 12.933
5. Georgia-Mae Fenton, Great Britain, 12.800
6. Lorette Charpy, France, 11.566

MEN’S VAULT STANDINGS

1. Artur Davtyan, Armenia, 15.016
2. Dmitrii Lankin, Russia, 14.733
3. Igor Radivilov, Ukraine, 14.649
4. Andrey Medvedev, Israel, 14.633
5. Loris Frasca, France, 14.450
6. Giarnni Regini-Moran, Great Britain, 14.066

8:43 am. Diana Varinska UKR BB: Hit her layout series and a switch leap after, but missed a leap out of it, so does switch again into a split leap. Full turn. Front aerial into a split jump. Split leap to side aerial, break at the hips. Double full, some leg form. Solid set. 13.100!!

8:40 am. Igor Radivilov UKR VT: Big Dragulescu, hop back. 14.733. Tsuk double pike, a little low with a big lunge forward. I think Artur Davtyan has got it!!!!!! 14.649!

8:38 am. Nina Derwael BEL BB: Someone’s about to do some angry beam and I’m HERE FOR IT. This will be Kyla Ross at 2015 nationals levels of crazy. Layout stepout mount, lovely. Bhs loso is big, slight check. Front aerial to split ring jump, perf. Very clean side somi. Switch leap to split leap, great extension on both. Tic-toc, down into her triple wolf turn, lovely, just a tiny check. Dances over before her double wolf turn, super control. Stuck the gainer full. Amazing. 13.766!!!!!!!

8:35 am. Artur Davtyan ARM VT: Stuck the Dragulescu!! Excellent, even in the air it looked fantastic, one of the least cowboyed. Then he basically stuck his kaz double!! Absolutely fabulous. 15.016 average to go in for the gold medal position right now!!!

8:33 am. Denisa Golgota ROU BB: Switch leap mount into another leap that she has a bobble on. Bhs layout, pretty piked, bobble but holds on. I missed a couple of skills but looked like she had a big bobble on something that faced sideways. Leap series into back handspring was great. Wolf turn, excellent double tuck with a bounce back. 12.933 (5.2 D, 7.733 E)

8:30 am. Andrey Medvedev ISR VT: Tsuk double pike, fantastic! Step back. THE HEIGHT ON THAT. I missed the score but it was higher than his QF score according to Olly! Handspring double pike, second flip is tucked though so this will be shady for what they’ll credit.

8:27 am. Angelina Melnikova RUS BB: Switch leap mount, solid. Layout series, a bit piked in the layout, and she has a slight hip/foot adjustment, front aerial to split jump to straddle jump, solid. Feet are slightly off on her Kochetkova but it doesn’t phase her at all. Double wolf turn, clean. Side somi, great. This is one of her strongest sets I’ve seen internationally. Double pike with a hop forward. Fantastic. 13.600!!!!

8:26 am. Dmitrii Lankin RUS VT: Handspring randi, super fast in his twists. Looks like he could add another twist onto that! Big lunge back to control it. 14.866. Second vault is a 1.5, looks like he wants to stick it but has a little fight, some baby steps to adjust. 14.733 average!

8:23 am. Lorette Charpy FRA BB: WELP. Off on the layout stepout mount, which was crooked basically from the springboard. Ugh. Bhs loso is crooked as well, and she falls again. Triple wolf turn is good, double wolf turn is a bit messy and wobbly. Side aerial, good, switch leap to split leap to Korbut, very nice. Front aerial to split jump to back handspring, a little shy in the jump. Good double pike to finish. 11.566.

8:21 am. Loris Frasca FRA VT: Kaz double full, a bit crooked in the air and he’s still crooked on the landing, has to take a couple of steps over and OOB to correct. 14.500. Huge Dragulescu for the second vault, just a step forward. 14.450 average.

8:18 am. Georgia-Mae Fenton GBR BB: Lovely layout stepout mount, just a slight check. A nice leap before her low beam choreo, and then a clean double wolf turn. Side aerial to back handspring, switch to split leap, kind of a low back leg, into a full Y turn, balance check but love that series. Wobble out of the double spin. Front aerial is clean. Transverse split jump half, not close to 180 from this angle, bobble on the landing. Double full to finish is clean. 12.800 (5.2 D, 7.600 E)

8:17 am. Giarnni Regini-Moran GBR VT: Handspring randi, some form in the air with a little step back. Good work. 14.733 to start! Went for a kaz 1.5 I think for his second vault but came up a bit short and put his hand down behind him to stop from sitting it. 14.066 average.

8:16 am. Double teaming these finals now along with junior worlds, which is going on now with men’s vault!

8:08 am. UNEVEN BARS STANDINGS

1. Angelina Melnikova, Russia, 14.466
2. Becky Downie, Great Britain, 14.400
3. Anastasiya Alistratava, Belarus, 14.233
4. Nina Derwael, Belgium, 13.933
5. Naomi Visser, Netherlands, 13.466
6. Lorette Charpy, France, 12.866

STILL RINGS STANDINGS

1. Marco Lodadio, Italy, 14.800
2. Vahagn Davtyan, Armenia, 14.766
3. Igor Radivilov, Ukraine, 14.733
4. Ibrahim Colak, Turkey, 14.700
5. Samir Aït Saïd, France, 14.700
6. Dmitrii Lankin, Russia, 14.366

8:04 am. Angelina Melnikova RUS UB: Inbar full, a little crooked, to Maloney to Pak to van Leeuwen, good. Deep inbar half to piked Jaeger, short on the blind change before the toe full (a little late) into a messy full-in, not the cleanest but that should get her a medal in her *surprise* you’re in the bars final moment after her teammate Anastasia Iliankova fell ill with allergies! 14.466 (6.1 D, 8.366 E) to take the lead? Not what I was expecting, but go off I guess, judges!

8:02 am. Marco Lodadio ITA SR: Maltese, up to another maltese, saltos into an iron cross, most guys have veins popping at this point but he barely looks phased. Nice high planche into an iron cross, double double with a small hop. 14.800 (6.3 D, 8.500 E) to take the lead!

7:59 am. Anastasiya Alistratava BLR UB: Inbar to inbar full right in handstand to Maloney to Pak, beautiful. Van Leeuwen, almost perfect, inbar half to piked Jaeger, not a ton of height but still lovely. Short handstand on the blind change before her giants, blind change to double front half-out STUCK!!!! AMAZING. 14.233 (5.9 D, 8.333 E)

7:57 am. Ibrahim Colak TUR SR: Planche into a maltese, nice transition. Body alignment off a bit on the planche after. Saltos into a maltese, iron cross, nice handstands, little bobble on the dismount. 14.700 (6.2 D, 8.500 E)

7:54 am. Nina Derwael BEL UB: I’m nervous again!!! Nabieva, just some flex in her feet, Downie, great, Derwael-Fenton, UGH, tries to catch when she’s not quite facing the right direction and can’t get her hands around the bar, hard fall onto her back. Her first fall in more than two years. Gets it the second time into the Ezhova to Maloney to Pak to van Leeuwen. Toe full to full-in with a step back. She’ll be pissed at herself knowing Nina, but she had great recovery in there. 13.933 (6.5 D, 7.433 E)

7:53 am. Vahagn Davtyan ARM SR: Control into the maltese, presses into an iron cross. Slow and steady into his first handstand, double pike to maltese, hands open, nice. Iron cross, held very well. Nice form in his planche, full-twisting double layout, little adjustment. 14.766 (6.1 D, 8.666 E)

7:50 am. Becky Downie GBR UB: Here we gooooo! I’m probably more nervous than she is. Stalder full to Maloney to Hindorff, good, just a bit rushed in the stalder full, Downie, also great, maybe a little low. Tweddle to Ezhova, solid work there, gets the van Leeuwen very well, and a full-in dismount with a tiny hop. HOORAY!!!!!! Some clean-up things to consider, but this routine works REALLY well for her I think. She does so many variations, and I think the constant changing around doesn’t really serve her well in terms of her consistency, but I love this composition and it has potential to get even better if she sticks with it. 14.400 (6.3 D, 8.100 E)

7:48 am. Samir Aït Saïd FRA SR: Inverse planche that I don’t know the actual name of, pressed into a planche, then swings through to a maltese, beautiful opening, handstands are beautiful, double pike to maltese, beautiful, up to a planche that he transitions down into an iron cross. Shaky in a handstand but msucles up, full-twisting double layout with a hop back. 14.700 (6.3 D, 8.400 E)

7:46 am. Lorette Charpy FRA UB: Oof, Khorkina doesn’t get anywhere the lift or rotation needed off the low bar and she falls right away. Back on and just does it again, much better this time. Short handstand before her toe half to piked Jaeger, Ricna is a little low, into a lovely Pak, van Leeuwen is good, toe full, slightly crooked but right on the bar, into her full-in dismount, a bounce and step on the landing. 12.866 (5.8 D, 7.066 E)

7:43 am. Dmitrii Lankin RUS SR: Nice high planche, swings through into a maltese, then presses through to another maltese. Double pike to double tuck to iron cross, hands open the whole time like a badass. Needs a bit of strength to get into handstand after, a little short but muscles up, double double, step back. 14.366 (6.1 D, 8.266 E), ooh, he’s PISSED, MAG stepping it up with the drama today.

7:41 am. Naomi Visser NED UB: Stalder full to Chow to Pak to van Leeuwen, absolutely lovely throughout. Toe-on to blind change to huge straddle Jaeger with amazing toe point, excellent. Toe full, almost in handstand, to full-out, a little under-rotated (by a hair) but still gets it around in the end, small step. 13.466 (5.7 D, 7.766 E)

I’m not sure why her E is so low, she wasn’t perfect but that seems severe so I must have missed something? OH, her feet I guess hit the low bar before the dismount, I didn’t see that, but it explains why she was a bit short in her rotation.

7:39 am. Igor Radivilov UKR SR: After a half hour of medals, let’s go. Nice opening transition into the iron cross, swings through to handstand, then down into a double pike to handstand, a bit short there. Maltese is nice, so is his planche position, just a bobble on the dismount landing. 14.733 (6.0 D, 8.733 E)

7:05 am. POMMEL HORSE STANDINGS

1. David Belyavskiy, Russia, 15.033
2. Oleg Verniaiev, Ukraine, 14.900
3. Andrey Likhovitskiy, Belarus, 14.566
4. Cyril Tommasone, France, 13.266
5. Marios Georgiou, Cyprus, 13.166
6. Slavomir Michnak, Slovakia, 11.966

6:59 am. WOMEN’S VAULT STANDINGS

1. Teja Belak, Slovenia, 14.283
2. Angelina Melnikova, Russia, 14.133
3. Sara Peter, Hungary, 14.066
4. Gabriela Janik, Poland, 13.699
5. Ofir Netzer, Israel, 13.666
6. Marina Nekrasova, Azerbaijan, 13.466

Oleg has just submitted an inquiry for his D score and now he and David are having a dramatic moment to see if it’s accepted or not.

Screen Shot 2019-06-30 at 7.01.11 AM

It was rejected!

6:55 am. Teja Belak SLO VT: Slovenia with THE MOST Slovenian leo. Handspring front layout full, BEAUTIFUL landing, hips and knees are just a bit soft in the air. 14.433!!!

Second vault is a stuck Yurchenko 1.5!!! I’M CRYING!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an AMAZING final for Teja. That was BEAUTIFUL.

14.283 average to take a VERY deserved gold.

6:53 am. David Belyavskiy RUS PH: Nice one-arm swing at the beginning. Single pommel work is nice before traveling back and forth, he’s so quick and nimble, fantastic routine. 15.033 (6.4 D, 8.633 E) to take the gold!

6:51 am. Sara Peter HUN VT: DTY, a little soft in her hips in the air, but lots of power, hop back. 14.333

Second vault is a handspring front layout half, very nice in the air, just a bit short on the landing, hop forward.

14.066 average, she goes in right behind Melnikova.

6:49 am. Marios Georgiou CYP PH: I wasn’t typing through this, everything was going really well for him, but then he just kind of flew off right before transitioning into his flairs, put his hands over his eyes for a few seconds, but thankfully not injured. Gets back up and does ANGRY POMMELS for a great finish. Well, at last his injury on high bar yesterday wasn’t bad enough to keep him out here. 13.166 (6.1 D, 7.066 E)

6:45 am. Marina Nekrasova AZE VT: KILL MEEEEEEEEEE, upgraded her handspring front full to a Rudi which is INSANE, but didn’t get enough of a block off the table, had to severely compromise her usually solid form to the point where they could downgrade the shape, and she crashed it at a rotation of about 1.25 so they also probably can’t give her the 1.5. Crying forever. 12.900 (5.4 D, 7.500 E), so yeah, they gave her the full.

Second vault is a fantastic tsuk 1.5, just a tad low on the landing with a step forward. Poor thing, but at least she gave the Rudi a chance. 14.033

13.466 average

6:43 am. Oleg Verniaiev UKR PH: Scissors to handstand down to scissors, lovely. One-arm swing is delicious. Handstand pirouette down to another scissor element, fab single pommel work, traveling goes well, legs come apart for one split second at the very end just as he’s about to go up into handstand, but that was brilliant. 14.900 (6.2 D, 8.700 E) to go into first!

6:41 am. Gabriela Janik POL VT: Tsuk full, pretty solid! Just a big hop back. Form issues are minor. 13.633

Goes for the handspring front tuck full as her second vault, excellent landing, her tuck form is mostly strong but she has a severe leg separation just coming off the table. 13.766

13.699 average

6:39 am. Andrey Likhovitskiy BLR PH: Quick scissor work right into some single pommel work. He’s a little floppy in his swing but as he gets further and further along, he tightens up a bit and has a solid finish. So many moments where it looked like he was going to come off but he’s like NOT TODAY SATAN. 14.566 (5.9 D, 8.666 E)!

6:37 am. Ofir Netzer ISR VT: Handspring front tuck full, excellent!! The landing was fantastic and she looked great in the air. Not super powerful, but her feet are her biggest issue in terms of form. 13.700

Second vault is a tsuk layout full, also pretty clean. Hop back and one foot goes OOB I believe…just the slightest pike in her hips. 13.633

13.666 average.

6:34 am. Slavomir Michnak SVK PH: His hip angle is pretty closed and he has leg separations throughout. Starts getting messier throughout and eventually falls. When he gets back on his form actually looks a bit tighter. Finishes strong. 11.966 (4.9 D, 7.066 E)

6:32 am. Angelina Melnikova RUS VT: DTY, leg form is better in the first twist than the second, but better overall than she was in the past. Step back is about 0.3 and it’s OOB, but a solid effort for her. 14.100 (5.4 D, 8.800 E, -0.1 ND).

Second vault is the Lopez, which got downgraded in qualifications I believe. Looked mostly great in the air, just pikes it down before the landing. Small step back. I wouldn’t downgrade and hope they don’t. 14.166!

14.133 average!

6:29 am. Cyril Tommasone FRA PH: Lovely swing down from handstand to scissors back up to handstand back down to scissors again, the most fluid ever. He has the slowest and steadiest rhythm going but then as he starts traveling his legs come apart super widely several times, and then he loses it completely when transitioning from a pommel down to the horse. Literally one second before his dismount. Gets back on to finish. Rough. 😦 13.266 (6.4 D, 6.866 E)

6:22 am. Women’s vault and men’s pommels about to start! Really and truly want Marina Nekrasova to win the gold here.

6:19 am. MEN’S FLOOR STANDINGS

1. Emil Soravuo, Finland, 14.433
2. Giarnni Regini-Moran, Great Britain, 14.233
3. Petro Pakhniuk, Ukraine, 14.200
4. Dmitrii Lankin, Russia, 14.133
5. Yahor Sharamkou, Belarus, 13.533
6. Artur Davtyan, Armenia, 13.466

6:16 am. Petro Pakhniuk UKR FX: I missed the first pass, Randi maybe? Double front, another small hop forward. Front full to front double full, stuck. 2.5 to barani is very nice. Clean stuck double full side pass. Triple full, small hop back. 14.200 (5.7 D, 8.500 E) to take bronze!!!

6:13 am. Emil Soravuo FIN FX: Double double stuck right in the corner, amazing. HIS TUCK FORM, I want to cry. Front full to front double full, also stuck cold. Idk how, the way he landed looked like he was gonna have to take a step but he doesn’t need to at all. 2.5 to Rudi, beautiful. Front full to barani. Beautiful double full side pass. Excellent triple full to finish, just the tiniest bounce forward. 14.433 (5.6 D, 8.833 E), puts him in the lead!!!

6:10 am. Dmitrii Lankin RUS FX: Triple back, huuuge bounce back fully OOB. 3.5 to front full, much better. Quad, small hop back! Excellent. 2.5 to front double full, damn. Front layout to Rudi side pass. Triple full to finish, little scoot back, love how a triple looks like nothing for him. Landing issues throughout and he’s not the cleanest in his elements but still insane. 14.133 to put him behind Regini-Moran! (6.5 D, 8.233 E, -0.6 ND)

6:08 am. Artur Davtyan ARM FX: Double front half-out, so strong. Front full to front double full, big step to the side. Casual jog into his double full, clean and solid. 1.5 to Rudi, nice. Beautiful layout full side pass. Arabian double front half-out, a bit low, big step forward. Really nice until that last pass, but I think his D is def too low to challenge either way. 13.466 (5.2 D, 8.366 E, -0.1 ND)

6:06 am. Giarnni Regini-Moran GBR FX: Piked double front half-out, nice. Double double, small step back. Stuck the piked double front, really nice there. Front double full to barani, also a great landing. Randi with a step back. Double full, not super clean in the air, small step. Triple full to finish, small step to the side to control it. Great routine! 14.233 (5.9 D, 8.333 E)

6:02 am. Yahor Sharamkou BLR FX: Triple back!! DAMN, the height on that was INSANE. Stumbled back OOB. Front full to double front half-out, a little better, but a little low. I think the next was the double front full-in half-out, also a bit low. Something into a barani, I hate twists, I ALWAYS miss the entry and then am fully lost, maybe a front double full?, and then a 1.5 to punch front for his side pass. 2.5 with a step forward to finish. 13.533 (6.0 D, 7.833 E, -0.3 ND)

  1. I certainly don’t think Melnikova’s E-score should’ve been higher than Alistrateva’s, but it’s not absurd to think she could make up a .2 D-deficit in E over Downie, who is only just back to competition and looked a lot rougher than Lauren’s quick hits made it sound.

Like it’s definitely a debatable result but it’s not “Uhhhhh no but go off I guess.” 🙄

    • I was ranking the strength of the routines in comparison to one another, and don’t think Melnikova’s should’ve been first. Downie isn’t perfect, but she had the more complete and tidy routine. Melnikova’s was messy in many spots and I was surprised her E was so high, so I thought the obvious result would have been Downie over Melnikova both due to Downie’s generally cleaner set as well as the higher difficulty, but I think the judges clearly don’t like Downie’s swing and overall style.
