12:15 pm. Williams JAM FX: Front tuck through to double tuck, good! Also solid on the tucked full-in. Just a layout full for her next pass. Good routine! 12.166 (4.6, 7.566)

Danusia Francis with a 50.982 all-around!! Top individual competitor so far!

12:14 pm. Aneta Holasova with a 50.766 all-around, with a fall…that should make her pretty safe for Tokyo!

12:13 pm. Deriks BEL BB: Candle mount. Wobbly in her wolf turns. Front aerial with a tiny bobble. Transverse split jump half. bhs loso, little break at the hips. Switch leap, a little off, pause, sissone to split jump, good fix. Stuck the gainer pike. 12.100 (4.9, 7.200)

12:11 pm. Francis JAM FX: 2.5o to front tuck, comes into the tuck a little low and sideways but quickly turns things around, great cover. Crowd is already clapping along. Double pike, good! Step back. Memmel turn to double spin, rushes that a little. Switch ring to tour jeté half, great. Double tuck to finish, stuck! Great routine!

12:09 pm. Kanyai CZE UB: Blind change to piked Jaeger, fall. Hit her Tkachev (I didn’t see the entry, Hindorff maybe?) to Pak. Clear hip half, blind full to double tuck.

12:08 pm. Brassart BEL BB: Lovely walkover mount. Switch to switch half. Off on a front aerial. 😦 Bhs loso is good, a little bobble at the end. Side aerial is clean. Switch ring, stumbles, but saves it. Solid double pike, small hop. 11.733 (4.8, 6.933)

Richmon JAM FX: Good front tuck to double tuck and double full. Solid double pike. She better be on an NCAA roster soon. 11.133 (4.0, 7.133)

12:07 pm. Holasova CZE UB: Maloney to clear hip half to blind change to big piked Jaeger, good. Pak, leg separation, Chow to bail to piked toe shoot, cool! Don’t see those often. Double layout stuck. Great job! 12.800 (5.1, 7.700)

12:04 pm. Castles SWE FX: Something into a double tuck, I didn’t see the start of the pas. 2.5 to front tuck with a step back. Front full with a step. Good routine. 12.333 (5.0, 7.333)

Daveloose BEL BB: Bhs loso is lovely. A little wobble on a wolf turn. Hit the dismount. Beautiful routine! 12.900 (5.2, 7.700)

Palacios GUA VT: Great DTY! Just a step. 14.033 (5.4, 8.633)

Ponizilova CZE UB: I missed most of this but she hit everything I saw.

12:03 pm. Jirikova CZE UB: I missed this. 11.900 (4.2, 7.700)

Del Valle GUA VT: FTY, a little messy in the air and deep on the landing.

12:01 pm. Derwael BEL BB: Bhs loso, Front aerial to split jump to back handspring, good, little bobbles here and there but nothing severe. Good side somi. Lovely leap series. Triple wolf turn, bobbled at the end and I think she may have put her hand down to control it. Double wolf turn is good. Gainer full dismount, stuck. 13.200 (5.4, 7.800)

Adlerteg SWE FX: Hit her first pass, then a Rudi. I wasn’t typing during most of this but it was a good set…though I may have missed something. 11.933 (4.1, 7.833)

Sazonova ISL VT: Clean FTY.

11:56 am. Derwael now with a 42.241 in the all-around, about 2.5 points ahead of everyone who has done three events from both subdivisions. Brassart 39.499, Francis 38.416, Holasova 37.966, Adlerteg 37.166.

11:53 am. Williams JAM BB: Punch front mount is super solid. Punch front to straddle jump to back tuck, looked great in the first two skills, but then a fall at the end. 😦 Bhs loso, legs are a bit wild and she falls again. Full turn. Another punch front, the angle I’m at I have no idea which one was tucked or piked but she did two of them. Switch leap to switch side, low back leg on the first and a wobble on the latter. Switch half, wobble. Gainer pike off the end.

11:51 am. Palacios GUA FX: Arabian double front, too far forward on the landing, stumbled OOB. Tucked full-in is very open, hop. Double pike, hop back and foot OOB. Solid double tuck to finish. 11.166 (4.8, 6.566, -0.2)

11:49 am. Francis JAM BB: Nice split jump half, and then SUPER solid on her bhs loso. Switch to split leap to wolf jump, great. Front aerial to split jump to back handspring, perfect. Full L turn, little wobble. Awesome transverse side aerial to layout full dismount. Fantastic routine!!!! 12.566 (4.9, 7.666)

Del Valle GUA FX: I didn’t see most of this but she hit! 11.533 (4.6, 7.233, -0.3)

11:46 am. Castles SWE BB: Had a stumble on something early on. Front aerial, little check. Clean double wolf turn, then a clean single. I didn’t see the rest. 12.333 (5.0, 7.333)

Derwael BEL UB: Big Nabieva, nice and clean. Derwael-Fenton to Ezhova to Chow to Pak to van Leeuwen, perfection. Slightly short on the handstand before the toe full to full-in, just a tiny bounce. Brilliant. 15.141 (6.4, 8.641)

11:45 am. Deriks BEL UB: Blind change to piked Jaeger, Ricna to Pak, very nice! Maloney to bail to toe shoot, good. Blind full, finishes with a super high full-in, almost stuck. The Belgians in the crowd were literally shrieking throughout that entire routine and still now after. LOVE IT. 13.733 (5.7, 8.033)

11:42 am. Daveloose BEL UB: Shaposh (I didn’t see the entry, just not a toe-on) to Pak, very clean. Maloney to bail to toe shoot. Blind full, blind change to piked Jaeger, SUPER clean double front. The Belgians in the crowd are WILD. That routine deserved it. 13.166 (5.2, 7.966)

Holasova CZE VT: Huge FTY. Just takes a big bounce back. 13.533 (4.6, 8.933)

Adlerteg SWE BB: Ooh, love her really cool jump into a handstand stag kinda deal. Rulfova, caught it crooked and awkwardly. Stuck the layout full. I missed a lot of this but saw a few little things throughout that won’t mean this is gonna be a huge score. 11.033 (4.0, 7.033)

Sazonova ISL FX: 2.5 to barani, nice. Hit a double tuck well. Very clean double full. 11.966 (4.5, 7.466)

Ponizilova CZE VT: I think a handspring layout half for her first vault. But I think it got downgraded… 12.933 (4.6, 8.433, -0.1)

11:41 am. Jessenova CZE VT: Mostly a clean FTY with a small hop back. 13.333 (4.6, 8.833)

11:38 am. Bonifasi GUA FX: Clean double tuck, just a small bounce. Hit the rest. Good routine!

Richmon JAM BB: Bhs loso, check, and then she falls. Wobbled on something after that. I didn’t see much of the rest but she looks happy.

Jirikova CZE VT: Good handspring front pike. 13.000 (4.2, 8.800)

Brassart BEL UB: A little arched and some ankle separation in some of her handstand/pirouette elements at the beginning, but hit the Jaeger, toe-on to Pak, and van Leeuwen well enough. Little hop on the dismount. 13.133 (5.1, 8.033)

11:37 am. Danusia Francis just got applause for her dismount series in the one-touch! That’s what we wanna see.

11:34 am. Nina Derwael with a 27.100 in the all-around so far, ahead of any of the first subdivision gymnasts when they were also at the halfway point. Brassart with a 26.366, Adlerteg 26.133, Francis 25.850, Williams 25.466.

Belgium with an 80.998, Czech Republic with a 70.973

11:31 am. Williams JAM UB: Huge Hindorff, clear hip to bail to toe shoot, good! Double layout basically stuck, just wobbled a little in her knees. 11.800 (3.9, 7.900)

Palacios GUA FX: Hit her triple flight series. Little stumble on her front aerial but saved it. Good jumps. Side somi, good. A little short on a transverse jump. Over time. 2.5 with a step to the side. Really solid effort!

11:29 am. Holasova CZE FX: Double layout, nice! Just a scoot back. Arabian double front, she’s SO open on the second flip. TIME FOR A DOS SANTOS 2. Jk but really tho. Clean in her Y turn. Switch ring to tour jeté half. Double pike is just a tad short, hop forward. Clean double full to finish. Great job. Big smile right at the judges. YOU SEE THAT, OKSANA OMELIANCHIK? GIVE IT A 10. 12.633 (4.9, 7.733)

11:27 am. Sazonova ISL BB: Front aerial, switch half, both slow and steady. Off on her transverse split jump half. Bhs loso with a break at the hips. Crashed the double tuck dismount. 9.666 (4.9, 4.866, -0.1)

Castles SWE UB: Blind change, ankle separation, to straddle Jaeger, clean Pak, slightly flexed feet, Maloney to bail with some messy legs, to toe full, a bit late. Toe shoot. High stuck double tuck. 12.066

11:26 am. Jirikova CZE FX: Double front, good. Then a solid double pike. Missed her footing on a 1.5 but still got it around.

11:25 am. Adlerteg SWE UB: Big Shang, and she’s off. Back on, dose the Pak well, Bhardwaj to Maloney to clear hip full to big Tkachev, nice. Gets a bit arched in a handstand, finishes strong with a double layout. 12.700 (5.6, 7.100)

11:24 am. Bonifasi GUA BB: Came off on something early on. A few other stumbles throughout, mostly on dance elements. Switch half, a bit low. Front full with a step. 9.300 (5.2, 4.200, -0.1)

11:23 am. Ponizilova CZE FX: Double pike and 1.5 to front layout to start were both solid. Double tuck low with a step. 11.333 (4.2, 7.133)

Vansteenkiste BEL VT: HUGE and lovely Yurchenko 1.5! Damn, that’ll be a DTY soon. 14.100 (5.0, 9.100)

11:22 am. Brassart BEL VT: Another big clean FTY for them! 13.600 (4.6, 9.000)

11:21 am. Francis JAM UB: Maloney to bail to toe shoot, good! Blind change to stoop to piked Jaeger, cool! Straddle Tkachev, and she dismounts with a double pike, little stumble back, but great work. 12.350 (5.0, 7.350)

11:20 am. Derwael BEL VT: Clean FTY, a little tentative on the landing, just a slight bounce back. 13.500 (4.6, 8.900)

11:18 am. Jessenova CZE FX: Good double pike to start, chest just a bit low. Solid 1.5 to front layout. Double tuck at the end was good. Fab start!

Deriks BEL VT: Big FTY, pretty solid on the landing, just a hop. 13.566 (4.6, 8.966)

Del Valle GUA BB: Hit some jumps at the beginning. I missed some after that. Side somi with a little bobble. Also wobbled on an aerial near the end. Double full with a step back.  8.933 (4.3, 4.633)

Richmon JAM UB: Straddle Jaeger, good. hit the rest, blindfull to clean double tuck at the end. Good job! 11.466 (4.0, 7.466)

11:17 am. Belgium’s 39.732 is the highest floor score by nearly a point of the three teams so far.

11:13 am. Sazonova ISL UB: Toe full to Maloney to Pak, good, just little things throughout. Toe shoot, blind change to Khorkina, good! High clean double tuck, stuck. Get it, mama!

11:10 am. Palacios GUA UB: Shaposh to bail to toe-on to toe shoot, good. Blind full, arches over a little, blind change with some leg separation, into a Jaeger, full-in is good. 11.333 (4.4, 6.933)

11:07 am. Vansteenkiste BEL FX: Tour jeté full at the beginning. Triple full, excellent! 1.5 to front full, skids and sits it. UGHHHH. Hit her last pass. Shame about the fall, this was such a strong routine otherwise. 12.200 (4.8, 7.400)

Holasova CZE BB: Off on her loso mount. 😦 Super solid on her bhs loso los. Front aerial to split jump, little pause in between. Hop back on the double pike. Again, bummed about that fall but she made up for it, the rest was really strong. 11.800 (5.1, 6.700)

11:06 am. I’ve missed the first two bars routines I think….Bonifasi got a 9.966, and I believe I saw a fall from Del Valle.

11:04 am. Derwael BEL FX: Switch full. Omg this new routine for her is BADASS. Clean double tuck with a little shuffle. Good on her dance elements and a choreo section here, the crowd is losing their minds. Clean 1.5 to front full. Switch ringto split ring leap. This routine is FABULOUS. 13.600 (5.0, 8.600)!!!!!!!!

Castles VT: FTY, and she crashed it. UGH. 11.666 (4.6, 7.366, -0.3)

Jirikova CZE BB: Punch front is great! Solid bhs loso. Big stumble and a fall on a front aerial. Front layout with a hop. 10.900 (4.6, 6.300)

11:03 am. Adlerteg SWE VT: Clean FTY to start her day! 13.433

11:02 am. Williams JAM VT: Hit her FTY well!

Jessenova CZE BB: I missed the beginning of this but didn’t see any falls. Hit her transverse split jump half with a wobble. Back tuck, big wobble. 1.5 dismount with a wobble.

Daveloose BEL FX: I wasn’t typing but fully hit routine!

10:59 am. Brassart BEL FX: Clean leaps, piked full-in a tad low. Hit her second pass with a little bounce. Solid double pike. This routine is so badass hard rock, I love it.

Ponizilova CZE BB: Super solid bhs layout. Short on one of her leaps. Hit the dismount.

Francis JAM VT: Solid FTY.

  1. This is my first time watching the belgian girls’ qualification live on tv. And man do I hate those commentators. They are putting down some of the other countries and praising our gymnasts like… get over yourself Belgium. I hate that superiority that they are expressing

Sorry I’m not trying to be negative, or to throw hate but I just wanted to point this out.

Thanks again for your liveblogging, I really enjoy following this on my day off 🙂

    • They were undoubtedly overscore . Disgusting. I bet they would do the same with Dutch girls. Politics in gymnastics. I feel sorry for Australia that deserved more then them.

      • I don’t necessarily agree that they were overscored, but I do agree that politics sometimes influence scores.

I’m just so fed up with Belgian media.
For example they were showing jonna on beam, right it wasn’t her best routine, but they were effin scrutinizing everything she did. With wordings like (she failed, very simple element, oh that was bad etc etc)
They also showed a fabulous beam routine of one of the Jamaican girls on replay(Danusia Francis?), and at that moment they were discussing the scoring system. They also bashed the Icelandic contestant on beam (“well yeah she has a lot of tattoos but her gymnastic skills are lacking a bit”) Like come on! I also get the impression that they have no idea what they are talking about.

        • Ugh I agree about the commentators. Didn’t watch this time but in general, in any sport, I can’t stand Belgian commentary. Makes me cringe.

  2. So true. I usually don’t watch sports on tv but this time I thought I could give it a try, but no. Just no. So disrespectful towards other countries.
