  1. Jessica Gadirova withdrawing has me sad. I hope it’s more of a precaution than another injury, because she’s worked so hard and looked so happy to have made it to the Paris world cup.
That said, lots of new names on here I can’t wait to discover!

    • Yes, I actually love a first year of the quad worlds with opportunities for athletes who are either new seniors or haven’t had the chance to make big international teams yet! As much of a bummer it is to not have Gadirova on the team, I also don’t think she looked SUPER ready based on trials and the Paris challenge cup, and she definitely didn’t look like she had any potential to make finals this year. I also hope it’s precaution but I think am actually kind of glad she withdrew so she can focus on continued improvement rather than rushing to put out routines that aren’t up to her standard if that makes sense? This year is not at all vital for her if LA 2028 is in her sights so it’s probably for the best that she can take a break and not be under a lot of pressure so soon!

    • This is just the nominative roster – the U.S. team hasn’t been selected yet. I think Leanne still has a pretty solid chance, as even if she’s not in the top two AA at the trial meet, she’ll still be a big threat to win a medal on vault.

  2. I’m sad Jennifer Williams from Sweden won’t be at worlds. I was hoping to see her beam again. She’s exceptional there. Do you know what happened?

    • Me too! I know she had an injury over the summer but is also at Stanford now so I guess with 2028 in her mind it makes sense for her to take it easy this season and just focus on NCAA? Same with Tonya Paulsson, I thought for sure we’d see her competing for Taiwan in Jakarta but she’s focusing on NCAA as well!
