ROTATION 3
3:03 pm. Lyudmila Roshchina RUS BB:
2:59 pm. Elena Colas FRA BB: Switch leap mount to switch leap to straddle jump. Solid side aerial loso. Little fall forward on the double wolf turn but pulls it back. Hit the switch half. Front aerial to split jump to bhs was solid. Hop back on the double pike. Great! 13.933
Lia Redick CAN FX: Oh she is STRUGGLING today. 12.066
Lorrane Oliveira BRA UB: 13.700
2:57 pm. Lisa Vaelen BEL UB: Wasn’t typing for this but it was a hit routine! Biggest error was coming up a bit short on the dismount with a big lunge forward. 12.833
Alba Petisco ESP FX: 13.333
2:54 pm. Ke Qinqin CHN BB: Had a step back after the mount leap series and also a little stumble on the front handspring front tuck. Front aerial to split ring jump to Korbut. Switch to bhs to stag ring jump, minor wobble. I think a bhs to jump series after that, then dismounts with a double tuck, set was low, ends up short, sits it. SIGH. 13.833
Ellie Black CAN VT: 13.433
2:53 pm. Alice Kinsella GBR UB: Toe half to piked Jaeger, a little low but catches no problem, Ricna to Pak, Maloney to Gienger, toe full with a slight arch over, to arabian double front dismount, chest down, step. 13.466
2:52 pm. Maïana Prat FRA VT: Yurchenko 1.5, some knee form in the air, hop forward. 13.666
Flavia Saraiva BRA FX: 13.200
2:49 pm. Zhang Qingying CHN BB: Switch leap mount, switch half to Korbut, slightly off on the catch there but nothing severe. Gets the roundoff layout. Switch ring to bhs to split jump, lovely. Switch side to straddle jump, doesn’t connect to the back loop and catches that a bit far forward. Switch to split jump half to straddle 3/4, full turn, double pike, slightly short, lunge forward. 14.233
Sofia Tonelli ITA VT: 13.500
Giulia Perotti ITA VT: 13.100
Greta Mayer HUN UB: 13.033
2:47 pm. Claire Pease USA FX: Double-twisting double layout, little steps back. Double double, step back. Switch ring to switch half. 1.5 to rudi I think was her third pass? I always miss the entry to this pass. Some form in the air. Triple wolf turn. 2.5 with super crossed legs. 13.733
Abigail Martin GBR UB: Toe full was a bit late, Maloney to Tkachev, hop change to straddle Jaeger, mild form on the last few elements, gets the Pak, van Leeuwen, full-in dismount, hop back. 13.166
Breana Scott AUS VT: 12.066
2:45 pm. Kaylia Némour ALG BB: Loso mount into two more losos, wobbles at the end of the series. Bhs bhs layout with a little bounce. Short side aerial, little wobble. Switch to switch half, bounce. Front aerial to straddle jump to Korbut. Double wolf turn. Dismounts with a double pike, hop back. 14.500
Kishi Rina JPN VT: 13.900
2:42 pm. Touch warmups underway! Longines isn’t breaking ties so I think they’re broken but I guess I’m going with what they have because I don’t have it in me to do the math.

Maïana Prat FRA FX: 13.300
2:35 pm. Alyona Glotova RUS BB: She looks so mad before mounting, I love her. Game face! Bhs mount with a check. Switch leap to split leap. Side aerial loso with some form and she’s a bit short on the landing, can’t hold on, fall. Switch half to Korbut. Off again on the double wolf turn. Step back on the double tuck. 11.066
Lyudmila Roshchina RUS UB: Komova II to inbar piked Tkachev I think?? It was hard to see the feet in the entry, to Pak, Chow to Gienger, piked Jaeger, short handstand before the toe-full to full-in, two small steps. 14.333!
2:33 pm. Giulia Perotti ITA FX: Full-in, chest down, small step back. Front layout through to double pike, chest down and a tiny hop. 2:21 pm. Kishi Rina JPN FX: 13.166
Lisa Vaelen BEL VT: 14.033
2:19 pm. Kaylia Némour ALG UB: Inbar full was rough, doesn’t connect, but does the inbar layout Tkachev in mixed grip to Ezhova to Maloney to staler full to Downie to Pak to Chow half, full-twisting double layout, step back. Got scary at the beginning for a sec but good recovery. 14.866
Alice Kinsella GBR VT: Yurchenko double full, some form, some pike down, chest down on the landing, step back. 13.833
2:17 pm. Claire Pease USA BB: Triple wolf turn goes well, switch leap to split jump to Onodi, solid. Bhs loso loso with a big wobble then fall. Front aerial to straddle jump to bhs, little check. Side aerial. Switch half. Hit the 2.5 dismount with some form throughout. 12.533

1:58 pm. Kaylia Némour ALG VT: I don’t even want to watch but here we go. Idk what even happened? Just like…simply did a Yurchenko layout. Or I guess pike, it was kinda piked. It was like she just wasn’t ready and did a timer? Lord. Like her block looked fine? Okay, just did the rewatch and yeah, on the entry she kinda misses the springboard and does the roundoff onto the safety collar.
1:57 pm. Ke Qinqin CHN VT: Looks like a successful Yurchenko double full! Got the replay, it had a hop back. 14.033
Greta Mayer HUN FX: 12.166
1:55 pm. Breanna Scott AUS BB: Off on the layout series. Hit the side aerial, front aerial, double wolf turn, punch front, step back on the double pike. 12.900
1:53 pm. Claire Pease USA UB: Endo half to inbar full to inbar to Komova II to Tkachev, I think that random inbar was supposed to be the Komova II but she wasn’t feeling it and did an inbar as a cover and it worked! Pak, lovely handstand before the Chow half, toe half to double front half, deep but stuck. 13.833
Kishi Rina JPN BB: 12.500
Abigail Martin GBR FX: 13.133
1:52 pm. Zhang Qingying CHN VT: Assume a Tsuk full but we ofc did not see it. Ah yes, there it is in the replay. Lunge back. 13.066
1:51 pm. Kaylia Némour’s vault score just came in as a 12.366 with a 3.6 D so I assume she balked the Yurchenko double full soooooo goodbye everyone! This final is over. I’m sure we’ll get a replay. We’re of course watching an ad right now on Peacock.
Naomi Visser NED UB: 14.033
1:47 pm. Sugihara Aiko JPN FX: Double L turn. Double layout, small hop back. I think a 1.5 through to double tuck after that, I missed the early part of the first skill, but looked good, small hop back. Leap pass looked good I think? Memmel turn. 2.5 to front layout, lands with toes OOB. Sticks the double pike at the end! Queen. 13.400
Skye Blakely USA VT: Yurchenko double full, two little hops back. 14.200
Ellie Black CAN BB: 12.366
1:46 pm. Alyona Glotova RUS UB: Toe half to piked Jaeger, messy toe full to Downie to Pak, Maloney to Gienger, mostly nice, minor leg separation, full-out with a step back. 14.333
1:44 pm. Lyudmila Roshchina RUS VT: Hit the Yurchenko double full, hop back. 14.033
1:43 pm. Maïana Prat FRA BB: Hit the mount and then a long prep for her bhs loso loso, hits it with a check. Switch leap to switch alf to bhs, little form things here and there. The switch was really nice though! Side aerial to split jump, double wolf turn, side somi, and strong landing on the double pike dismount! 12.900 – D looks lower than usual? Just a 4.9!
Lorrane Oliveira BRA FX: 13.100
1:41 pm. Touch still happening! Should be a couple of minutes more.
1:38 pm. Athletes are out! I’m watching on Peacock btw, and we have an ad right now. Following live scores on Longines.
1:34 pm. With intros taking a while and the touch warmup still to come, we probably won’t get started until around 1:40 pm? Check back in a bit1
1:32 pm. Athletes are being introduced now!
1:27 pm. Hi! So as with MAG, I didn’t have time to do an individual preview, but here are some thoughts that may be helpful if you missed prelims!
Though Claire Pease finished seventh in quals – shocking tbh! – and is rotating with the group that starts on bars, I think she proved in the team competition that she is one of the best all-arounders in the world and a top contender for gold, so if she can repeat that kind of performance today, it’ll undoubtedly be between her and Kaylia Némour – who led in qualifications with a 55.999 – in the top spot.
Ke Qinqin, Elena Colas, and Skye Blakely will also be strong podium contenders, and could go for gold if the stronger two have too many mistakes. I was impressed with Lyudmila Roshchina in prelims and think she could be in the mix, and though Sugihara Aiko was down in 21st in qualifications, I think out of all of the lower-ranked competitors from that session, she has the most potential for a massive upset.
Kaylia Némour landed with her feet on the block in her round off (instead of on the springboard). Amazingly quick thinking of her to make it a layout! Poor her.

Yeah, that was such quick thinking! And still surprising that she even got the layout around with basically nothing out of the roundoff.

Looks like Nemour’s feet missed the springboard and so she had to do a simple layout.
