Switzerland and Hungary both hosted their national championships over the past weekend, and though no video coverage has been available, we did get our hands on the results.
Switzerland
2012 Olympian Giulia Steingruber easily won the all-around competition, earning a 56.05 ahead of silver medalist Caterina Barloggio with a 52.15 and Stefanie Siegenthaler with a 51.0 for bronze.
Steingruber also nearly swept the event medals, and would have were it not for mistakes on beam. Instead, she earned gold for vault, bars, and floor and a silver on beam, where Ilaria Käslin took gold with a 13.7. Vault was the biggest standout for Steingruber, where she competed a handspring Rudi and a super clean FTY for a combined score of 14.6.
The Swiss Gymnastics Federation has not yet selected the team that will represent the nation at World Championships, but will send Steingruber, Barloggio, Siegenthaler, and Käslin in addition to Jessica Diacci, Nicole Hitz, Nadia Mülhauser, and Laura Schulte to the Länderkampf Kunstturnen competition in Kirchdorf this Saturday September 6. The meet will help decide the six gymnasts who will represent the team in Nanning.
