8:43 pm. Whittenburg (USA PH) scissor to handstand, scissor to handstand but has to adjust his hadn on the pommel, has to muscle up the dismount but stays on.

Russian on single pommel , some leg separation but stays on, is moving really quickly now, triple Russian, cut through…. Botches the dismount a little, but I think he will get credit but I think it will be deducted heavily. 13.1

Japan is now only .399 over the United States after a tremendous parallel bar set. Keep in mind the US still has to end on pommel horse so nothing is over til it’s over but they’ve definitely put themselves in a good place. Great Britain is in 3^rd followed by Russia, China, Korea, Sweden, and Brazil.

Ruggeri (USA VT) Yurchenko ½, on. Double twist off. Good landing just the smallest of hops. Was very close to the red though.

Whittnburg (USA VT) DOES throw the Dragulescu. Chest very low on landing and a hop forward.

Purvis (GBR SR) Maltese to iron cross, azarian iron cross, invert, kip to joh, to yami to straddle planche. L sit, straddle up to great handstand, giant handstand (small bend. Some leg separation on his double double but good landing. Just a small hop back.

Naddour (USA VT) Stutter stepped toward the board. Landed feet first but knees definitely dropped a bit. 14.466

USA may not be throwing full difficulty, Whittenburg only warmed up the double front.

6:39 pm. Belyavskiy (RUS SR) invert, to maltese, up to solid straddle planche to azarian iron cross, yami to Johansson to Iron cross, giant to handstand (held but arched,) back giant to handstand, Good tap into the double double only a small hop back. He looks exhausted. 14.866

Xiao (CHN PH) Super clean routine…oops until he came off. I should stop saying nice things because then it messes them up. SORRY CHINA. Bent knees through the Russians, Good dismount. 13.433

6:33 pm. Capelli (SUI VT) Handspring double front. Pretty sure his butt kissed the matt at some point. He landed feet first though.

Abliazin (RUS SR) Takes a while to get his grip set. Azarian maltese, lowers then back  up, invert, yami to johansson to planche (NOOOO doesn’t hold it) Iron cross to azarian Iron cross (shoulders low) back giant to handstand (arch) giant handstand (arch) Stuck his double double.

6:31 pm. You (CHN PH) Spindles to start then travels down the horse, scissors to handstand on each side, nice russian on the end, Good into the dismount. Seems like a long routine to me.

6:25 pm. Zhang (CHN FX) back 1.5 to front 2.5, back 2.5 to thrown out front tuck (his head was inches from the mat), back 1.5 to front 1.5, 1 2/4 tucked Thomas. He doesn’t have any momentum going into his tumbling passes, fhs front 2.5 to punch barani, back triple with Mustafina legs.

6:23 pm. Belyavskiy (RUS PH) almost off on the handstand, good save, Magyar into the Sivado, good into the dismount.

6:20 pm. Deng (CHN FX) back 3.5 to punch barani, front full to 2.5 , back 2.5 to front 1.5, Very fast Russians. 1 ¾ Thomas (piked at the end) Full-in. Hope, Nice wide-arm press. Almost stuck the triple full to finish but chest was very low.

6:19 pm. Shin (KOR VT) Yurchenko 2.5. Had the stick but then hopped out of bounds

6:16 pm. We move to the 2^nd half of the 1^st rotation.

Lin (CHN FX) back 3/2 to front 5/2double double tucked, back 5/2 to front 1/1 tucked, 1 2/4 tucked Thomas, punch front tuck to punch 2/1 tuck , Flairs to wide-arm press, Triple to finish. Just a small hop back. Big fist pump from him. 15.133

6:11 pm. Wynn (USA SR) L cross to great inverted cross, back swing to invert cross, johansson, planche (great) azarian maltese,  push to L sit, bounce Iron cross, back up to maltese, back giant to handstand, flairs out of double double lay. 15.2

JAPAN came to do business! Shirai almost just stuck his quad dismount and he stuck most of his landings.16.325

Whitlock (GBR PH) scissor to handstand, single Russian on one pommel. Lots of single pommel work, traveling flairs (seemed a little off) Magyar into the Sivado, I literally don’t know how he stayed on during that dismount. His shoulders were way over most of the time.

Louis Smith is going first on Pommels. Weird…. Long wait too. Scissor to handstand, Busnari, I’ve said it before but he has the slowest circles, single Russian on one pommel, struggles with his flair a bit but HUGE dismount.

5:55 pm. March-in begins with Japan who qualified in first place.They are followed by the reigning Olympic champions, China.

Huge cheer for the host team, Great Britain who did a comical linked arm wave.
