It kills me that this supposed win by .001 is a truncating versus rounding issue, NOT actually a scoring difference. They need to either a) stop having a number of judges which result in score averages that end in repeating 3s or 6s or b) Add all the event scores in non-rounded, non-truncated form and Then compare the total. If this had been done, they would have tied. Then some stupid tie-breaking rule would have come in, but at least it would have been intentional, rather than accidental, based on one gymnast getting more scores that end in 33 or 66…. I can’t believe that no one ever mentions this, or tries to change it. I love both Sam and Yul, and don’t care which one wins, but the win should be legitimate.

It’s been mentioned a lot, at least in the gym fan world. Ever since the Nastia/Chellsie days we’ve known that it’s a math issue. Not sure why the FIG won’t change it but alas.
